The following directions will help you decode your 2002-2006 Nissan Altima's Service Engine Soon (SES) light and reset it.<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Obtain The Trouble Code</span><br />
<li>Turn the ignition key to the ON position and wait three seconds.</li>
<li>Put the accelerator pedal to the floor and release it five times in less than five seconds.</li>
<li>Wait exactly seven seconds. Put the accelerator pedal to the floor for ten seconds until the SES light flashes.</li>
<li>Release the accelerator pedal and start counting flashes to obtain the four-digit trouble code.<br /></li></ol>
<li>Long flashes (0.6 seconds) indicate the first digit of the code; count
the blinks one through nine and write down the first digit. (Ten blinks
indicates a zero.) </li>
The next three digits blink
faster (0.3 second) and have a 1 second pause between digits.</li>
<li>The ECM code repeats until you turn the ignition key to the OFF
<li>You can look up the trouble codes in the Service Manual.</li>
<li>If you get four blinks of ten, or 0000, the ECM indicates no malfunction.<br /></li></ul>
<br style="font-weight: bold;" /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Clear The Trouble Code</span><br />
Clear the code and the SES light by holding the
accelerator pedal down to the floor for 10 seconds or more while the SES light is
<li>When the pedal is released, the ECM will erase the trouble
hi your service soon light is on ok well this is what you do is get a scanalizer plug it in to the port in the car and erase the code that makes this light to come on or take your car in to a service station and they should have the ability to rest it there.
with the key to the "on" position (when all of your instrument panel lights come on) but do not start it. Push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times. On the third time hold the gas pedal down until your indicator light says "Oil life reset". Then turn the key the rest of the way to start the car and then it is complete. Don't forget to rate me!!!
If it's the indicator that literally says "service engine soon", and not the check-engine light, then you have no worries. That's programmed to come on at set intervals to remind you that routine service may be due soon (oil change, inspection, tire rotation, etc). It's not an indication of failure. Failures will be shown by the check-engine light. That one is nothing to worry about. Your owner's manual should have a procedure to turn it off.
oh thats the change oil light expect it every 3500 to 4500 miles they glow.. you can usually reset it by holding down the trip button with the car off and then turn the key to the II position where everything lights up
