SOURCE: oil leak

this could be many possibilities. The best way to find out is to raise it up (if not high enough already) and wipe down everything that has oil on it. Once you do this you can sit there for a bit or do something else for a few minutes and come back to it. Use a flashlight to see where the oil may be dripping from and if you can not find it you may have to run the truck for a bit to see.

The clutch slave cylinder is leaking. It's not a DIY job. The transmission has to be removed to get to it.

SOURCE: my 1994 camaro w/ 3.4L engine has an oil leak in

This is most likely a leak from your rear main seal. It happens and can be a pain to replace if you're a DYI kinda person without the nec. equipment.

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle with jackstands.
  2. Remove the transmission.
  3. If equipped with a manual transmission, remove the clutch and pressure plate.
  4. Remove the flywheel assembly.
  5. Using a suitable prytool, carefully pry the old seal out.
6. Inspect the crankshaft for nicks or burrs, correct as required.

To install:
  1. Clean the area and coat the seal with engine oil. Install the seal onto tool J-34686 for 3.4L engines, J 41349 for 3.8L engines or J 35621 for 5.7L engines.
  2. Install the tool (with the seal mounted to it) onto the rear of the crankshaft. Tighten the screws snugly to be sure the seal will be installed squarely over the crankshaft.

  1. Tighten the wing nut on the installation tool until it bottoms out.
  2. Remove the tool from the crankshaft or rear oil seal housing, as applicable.

  1. Install the flywheel.
  2. If equipped with a manual transmission, install the clutch and pressure plate.
  3. Install the transmission.
  4. Check the fluid levels, start the engine and check for leaks.

2006 Subaru Legacy - flexable pipe coming down from engine behind front left wheel - not connected to anything & dripping fluid?

Just to make sure, when you say front left, do you mean the passenger side or driver side? Just asking because some people say front left and mean the passenger side because they are describing the position when they are facing the front of the car.

What does the fluid look like? Does it look like engine fluid or just water?

The thermostat is on passenger side right center of engine .Stand at passenger side with hood open look down and over at center and toward the right at the intake is hard to see without removing engine components....Follow upper radiator hose from radiator to the intake where the other end of hose connects and that is where the thermostat is.....Be sure engine is not running and cool to the touch for safety reasons while looking........SAFETY FIRST

Where is the thermostat located ? I'm looking for the two bleed valves.

follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator towards the engine. the thermostat is behind the aluminum tube/neck that connects to the upper hose. there should be a gold bleed valve in this piece. the other bleed valve is on the opposite side of the engine- passenger side- near the water pump

Cant find drain plug for radiator? can you tell me what to look for or what it looks like?

Look near the front of the passenger side wheel well. You'll find the drain **** there.

There's a draincock down at the bottom. Open it up and drain the radiator. What I like to do next is remove the t-stat and replace waterneck. Now fill radiator with water (actually fill degas bottle) and run engine with upper hose removed at radiator. Flush until only clean clear water comes out of hose. Drain radiator, replace t-stat, fill radiator with coolant and you're done.

Hope helped with this; remember rated this help. Good luck.

Oil leak passenger side 300 turbo sedan, some on front passenger side wheel. Never lost oil pressure, but dipstick showed very little oil in crankcase on immediate after-run check. Have not started...

Add about 2.5-quarts of new engine oil to the engine.
Remove the passenger-side wheel, and support the car on jack-stands.
Start the engine and look for oil leak.
Chances are leaks are coming from failed oil-pan gasket or the drain-plug.
The head-cover gasket could be failing as well..

Leaking oil was told it had an upper and lower oil pan is this correct? Was told in order to repair upper pan , engine needed to come out, this sounds extreme. what can be done to fix the problem?

to examine this firstly buy some degreaser, clean the engine so the location of the leak can be pin pointed, take it to anothe mechanic for a second opinion {always the wiser move}, always into saving money. Good luck

I have a 1997 cavalier and this morning i looked under my car and there is a water leak under the passenger side of the engine, any idea? where is the water pump located?

The water pump is on the passenger side of the engine below the tensioner. Also look for coolant leaks from the head gasket.
