DTC P0753
The 1-2 shift solenoid (1-2 SS) valve controls transmission fluid pressure acting on the 1-2 shift valves to position the valves for the appropriate gear. The 1-2 SS valve is a normally-open exhaust valve located on the control valve body. A fused circuit supplies ignition voltage to the 1-2 SS valve. The PCM commands the solenoid ON or OFF by switching the ground path. When the 1-2 SS valve is commanded ON, the PCM senses low voltage. When the 1-2 SS valve is commanded OFF, the PCM senses high voltage. Refer to Shift Solenoid Valve State and Gear Ratio .
If the PCM detects a continuous open, short to ground or short to power in the 1-2 SS valve circuit, then DTC P0753 sets. DTC P0753 is a type B DTC.
DTC P0753 sets when one of the following conditions occurs for 5 seconds:
Condition 1 The PCM commands the solenoid ON and voltage feedback remains high, B+.
Condition 2 The PCM commands the solenoid OFF, and the voltage feedback remains low, 0 volts.
DTC P0758
The 2-3 shift solenoid (2-3 SS) valve controls transmission fluid pressure acting on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift valves to position the valves for the appropriate gear. The 2-3 SS valve is a normally-open exhaust valve located on the control valve body. A fused circuit supplies ignition voltage to the 2-3 SS valve. The PCM commands the solenoid ON or OFF by switching the ground path. When the 2-3 SS valve is commanded ON, the PCM senses low voltage. When the 2-3 SS valve is commanded OFF, the PCM senses high voltage. Refer to Shift Solenoid Valve State and Gear Ratio .
If the PCM detects a continuous open, short to ground or short to power in the 2-3 SS valve circuit, then DTC P0758 sets. DTC P0758 is a type A DTC.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC P0758 sets when one of the following conditions occurs for 5 seconds:
Condition 1 The PCM commands the solenoid ON and the voltage feedback remains high, B+.
Condition 2 The PCM commands the solenoid OFF and the voltage feedback remains low, 0 volts.

Secondary air ignition malfuction


This code can set for more than the pump not running. It could be a sensor issue that reads it, too high of pressure, just to name a few.

Circuit/System Verification
Verify that DTC P0412, P0418, P2430-P2433, P2440, or P2444 are not set.
* If any of the DTCs are set, perform those diagnostics first.
Ignition ON, command the AIR Pump Relay ON and OFF with a scan tool. The AIR pump should turn ON and OFF.
* If the AIR pump does not turn ON or OFF, refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Malfunction
Command the AIR Solenoid ON and OFF with a scan tool. The AIR solenoid valve should click with each command.
* If the AIR solenoid valve does operate as specified, refer to Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve Malfunction.
Engine running, command the AIR Pump Relay ON with a scan tool while observing the AIR Pressure Sensor parameter. The reading should be 15-20 kPa above the BARO reading.
* If less than the specified range, refer to Secondary Air Injection System Pressure Low.
* If greater than the specified range, refer to Secondary Air Injection System Pressure High.
Engine running, command the AIR System ON while observing the AIR Pressure Sensor parameter. The reading should be 7-10 kPa above BARO.
* If less than the specified range, refer to Secondary Air Injection System Pressure Low.
* If greater than the specified range, refer to Secondary Air Injection System Pressure High.
Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing
Secondary Air Injection Pump Malfunction

Ignition OFF, disconnect the AIR pump relay.
Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the controlled output circuit terminal 87 and ground.
* If the test lamp illuminates, test the controlled output circuit for a short to voltage.
Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the AIR pump relay coil ignition circuit terminal 85 and ground.
* If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the ignition circuit fuse is open, replace the AIR pump relay and/or the AIR solenoid relay.
Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the AIR pump relay switch B+ circuit terminal 30 and ground.
* If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test the controlled output circuit for a short to ground.
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the AIR pump.
Test for less than 2 ohms between the AIR pump ground circuit terminal B and ground.
* If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
Connect the harness connector at the AIR pump.
Connect the J 36169-HD with a 60A fuse between the AIR pump relay switch B+ circuit terminal 30 and the controlled output circuit terminal 87. Verify the AIR pump is activated.
* If the AIR pump does not activate, test the controlled output circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the AIR pump.
Remove the J 36169-HD jumper wire.
Connect a test lamp between the AIR pump relay coil ignition circuit terminal 85 and the AIR pump relay control circuit terminal 86.
Ignition ON, command the AIR Pump Relay ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
* If the test lamp is always ON, test the AIR pump relay control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
* If the test lamp is always OFF, test the AIR pump relay control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
If all circuits test normal, replace the AIR pump relay.

Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Malfunction
Ignition OFF, disconnect the AIR solenoid relay.
Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the controlled output circuit terminal 87 and ground.
* If the test lamp illuminates, test the controlled output circuit for a short to voltage.
Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the AIR solenoid relay coil ignition circuit terminal 86 and ground.
* If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the ignition circuit fuse is open, replace the AIR solenoid relay and/or the AIR pump relay.
Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the AIR solenoid relay switch B+ circuit terminal 30 and ground.
* If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test the controlled output circuit for a short to ground.
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the AIR solenoid.
Test for less than 2 ohms between the AIR solenoid valve ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
* If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
Connect the harness connector at the secondary AIR solenoid.
Connect a 15A fused jumper wire between the AIR solenoid relay switch B+ circuit terminal 30 and the controlled output circuit terminal 87. Verify the AIR solenoid valve is activated.
* If the AIR solenoid valve does not activate, test the controlled output circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the AIR solenoid.
Remove the 15A fused jumper wire.
Connect a test lamp between the AIR solenoid relay coil ignition circuit terminal 86 and the relay coil control circuit terminal 85.
Ignition ON, command the AIR Solenoid ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
* If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
* If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
If all circuits test normal, replace the AIR solenoid relay.

Secondary Air Injection System Pressure Low
Engine running, inspect for exhaust leaks between the AIR solenoid valve and the catalytic converter.
* If an exhaust leak is detected, repair as necessary.
Ignition OFF, disconnect the AIR pump relay.
Engine running, connect the J 36169-HD with a 60A fuse between the AIR pump relay switch B+ circuit terminal 30 and the controlled output circuit terminal 87. Verify the AIR Pressure Sensor parameter is not 15-20 kPa above BARO.
* If 15-20 kPa above BARO, replace the AIR pump relay.
Ignition OFF, remove the J 36169-HD jumper wire and connect the AIR pump relay.
Remove the air inlet hose at the AIR pump.
Engine running, command the AIR System ON while observing the AIR Pressure Sensor parameter. Verify the reading is not 7-10 kPa above BARO.
* If 7-10 kPa above BARO, the AIR pump inlet hose/pipe assembly is restricted. Remove the restriction or replace the hose/pipe assembly.
Ignition OFF, disconnect the hose at the AIR pump outlet.
Disconnect the hose at the AIR solenoid valve inlet.
Install a length of standard 1 inch I.D. (25.4 mm) hose from the AIR pump outlet to the AIR solenoid valve inlet.
Engine running, command the AIR System ON while observing the AIR Pressure Sensor parameter. Verify the reading is not 7-10 kPa above BARO.
* If 7-10 kPa above BARO, test/inspect AIR pump outlet hoses/pipes for leaks or restrictions.
Test all AIR pump wiring and connections for less than 2 ohms. If the wiring and connections test normal and the hoses/pipes are OK, replace the AIR pump.

Secondary Air Injection System Pressure High
Ignition OFF, remove the AIR solenoid valve.
Connect the AIR pump outlet pipe/hose at the AIR solenoid valve.
Connect the AIR solenoid valve harness at the AIR solenoid valve.
Engine running, command the AIR system ON while observing the AIR Pressure Sensor parameter. The reading should be less than 11 kPa above BARO.
* If greater than the specified value, replace the AIR solenoid valve.
Inspect the AIR solenoid valve gaskets for proper alignment. If normal, test/inspect the AIR solenoid valve outlet pipe, exhaust manifold, and cylinder head for a restriction.

This issue and its repair may be under GM warranty. I think it would be worth your time to check at the dealer.

Our 2003 Durango RT will not reverse while in reverse. The car just Idles there. We hear the car switch gears, but nothing happens. What could be problem?


This is one of two things, if the truck goes into drive and moves then you have trany problems and may need to have it rebuilt, if there is no movement in reverse or drive then it could be the transfer case or trany.

Possible Cause
The following items may be area of concern:
?¬Other transmission-related DTCs are set.
?¬Solenoid pack connector 5-volt supply circuit open.
?¬Sensor signal circuit has short to ground, short to voltage or open.
?¬Governor pressure sensor defective.
?¬Transmission fluid burnt or oil pan contains excessive debris.
?¬Governor pressure out of range.
?¬Transmission leaking internally.
?¬Defective PCM.
?¬Defective valve body.

Diagnostic Procedure
1.Using scan tool, read DTCs. If good trip counter for DTC P1756 is not displayed or displayed count is not zero, go to step 25. If good trip counter is displayed and displayed count is zero, go to next step.
2.Repair any other transmission-related DTCs before proceeding. If no other transmission-related DTCs exist, go to next step.
3.Check transmission fluid for proper level and for any debris. Fill or repair transmission as necessary. If fluid level and condition are okay, go to next step.
4.Start engine. Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature. Set parking brake, depress brake pedal and place gearshift lever in "D" position. Using scan tool, observe governor pressure sensor pressure. If pressure is greater than 3 psi (.2 kg/cm 2 ), go to next step. If pressure is 3 psi (.2 kg/cm 2 ) or less, go to step 20.
5.Turn ignition off. Install a pressure gauge at transmission governor pressure test port. Start engine. With gearshift lever in "D" position, observe gauge pressure. If pressure is 5 psi (.3 kg/cm 2 ) or more, go to step 23. If pressure is less than 5 psi (.3 kg/cm 2 ), go to next step.
6.Turn ignition off. Disconnect transmission solenoid assembly connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and 5-volt supply circuit at transmission solenoid harness connector terminal No. 2. If voltage is 4.5-5.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.5-5.5 volts, go to step 19.
7.Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector C2 (White). Measure resistance of governor pressure sensor signal circuit between transmission solenoid harness connector terminal No. 4 and PCM harness connector C2 (White) terminal No. 29. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair governor pressure sensor signal circuit for open.
8.Disconnect PCM harness connector C1 (Black). Measure resistance of sensor ground circuit between transmission solenoid harness connector terminal No. 3 and PCM harness connector C1 (Black) terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair sensor ground circuit for open.
9.Measure resistance of governor pressure sensor signal circuit between ground and transmission solenoid harness connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair signal circuit for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
10.Measure resistance between sensor signal circuit and sensor ground circuit at transmission solenoid harness connector terminals No. 3 and 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair governor pressure sensor circuit for short to sensor ground circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
11.Turn ignition on. Measure voltage of governor pressure sensor signal circuit between ground and transmission solenoid assembly connector terminal No. 4. If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than one volt, repair sensor signal circuit for short to voltage.
12.Turn ignition off. Ensure transmission solenoid harness connector is disconnected. Remove transmission oil pan. Disconnect governor pressure/temperature sensor harness connector. Inspect connector and terminals for damage. Repair as necessary. Measure resistance of governor pressure sensor 5-volt supply circuit between governor pressure/temperature sensor harness connector terminal "A" and transmission solenoid harness connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace transmission solenoid assembly (internal transmission harness).
13.Measure resistance of sensor ground circuit between governor pressure/temperature sensor harness connector terminal "D" and transmission solenoid harness connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace transmission solenoid assembly (internal transmission harness).
14.Measure resistance of governor pressure sensor signal circuit between governor pressure/temperature sensor harness connector terminal "B" and transmission solenoid harness connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace transmission solenoid assembly (internal transmission harness).
15.Measure resistance of governor pressure sensor signal circuit between ground and governor pressure/temperature sensor harness connector terminal "B". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace transmission solenoid assembly (internal transmission harness). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
16.Measure resistance between governor pressure sensor signal circuit and sensor ground circuit at governor pressure/temperature sensor harness connector terminals "B" and "D". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace transmission solenoid assembly (internal transmission harness). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
17.Reconnect transmission solenoid assembly harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage of governor pressure sensor signal circuit between ground and governor pressure/temperature sensor harness connector terminal "B". If voltage is more than one volt, replace transmission solenoid assembly (internal transmission harness). If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step.
18.Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, backprobe governor pressure sensor signal circuit at PCM harness connector C2 (White) terminal No. 29. Start and idle engine. Place gearshift lever in "N" position. Using scan tool, observe governor pressure sensor voltage. Compare scan tool value with DVOM voltage. If voltages match, replace governor pressure/temperature sensor. If voltages do not match, replace PCM.
19.Turn ignition off. Ensure transmission solenoid harness connector is disconnected. Disconnect PCM harness connector C2 (White). Measure resistance of 5-volt supply circuit between transmission solenoid harness connector terminal No. 2 and PCM harness connector C2 (White) terminal No. 31. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair 5-volt supply circuit for open.

NOTE: Removing transmission control relay in the following step may set other DTCs. Disregard these DTCs.
