SOURCE: need to replace my clutch in a toyota avensis

I have a 2001 Avensis 1.8 VVTi and just had to strip the engine to change the piston rings - the clutch was easy, compared to the rest. The Haynes manual has it all in and the job may take some time. I had access to a fully equipped car hobby club to do mine and i still took 50 hours to out the engine and strip it.

But to be honest, dropping the tranny is the biggest part of the job, the rest is 8 bolts and a clutch plate.
It's the disconnection of the tranny thats the tme consumer - the procedure simplified is - wheel off, track rod end off, wishbone off, CV joint out, electrics to tranny off, support the engine on blocks, support strut off, tranny off, clutch off.
As they say in the Haynes Manual - 'Replacement is the reverse of removal'

Hope this helps in deciding what to do!

I believe your oil pump is not working, Please do not start the car anymore or your engine will suffer severe engine damage, have it towed to your mechanic.

Toyota avensis vvti 02 taking too much oil

Atleast for Toyota Corolla VVT-i engine may consume oil. The fault is due to piston rings, that consume the cylinders. I have heard they have replaced half of the engines as a warranty.

It may also be an engine oil leak, for example, the oil pressure sensor at the root and the root of the distributor.

Sounds like a bad rod bearing, no cure except a rebuild. I assume you do know the difference between spark knock and bearing knock.

Hi:
Does your cars check engine light come on or off at all? If you had a misfire, it would trip the check engine light. Often a misfire is caused by a bad ignition module, and not just one sparkplug, but the only way to see what your car is doing is to have it scanned to see if anything is stored in the memory. Often , auto parts stores will do this for free, and that way you might have a clue to what is going on under the hood!
