Check if the oil comes out from the rockers cover rubber seal,as usually happens on the most toyotas. Also pull out the HT leads and see whether you find oil there in. If so means that you should renew the gasket and the spark plug seals on the cover.

The only way to know for sure where the oil is coming from is to get under it and look, There are way to many different places it could be coming from. For example could be leaking from a valve cover on back side of motor and running down the engine and dripping from the oil pan but its not the oil pan just looks like it

2001. What would cause oil to leak from somewhere on the driver's side of the motor?

Could be valve cover gaskets. The oil sending unit will also throw out a lot of oil.

Oil geting on flywheel an starter, burning oil like crazy

willie05: sounds to me like you have a leaking rear main oil seal.
If the oil is dripping out at the bottom of the motor and appears to be sourced from where the back of the engine and the front of the transmission mate together, that is your problem. Sometimes if the leak has been going on for a while, the under side of the engine and transmission may be covered with oil because of the wind turbulence caused by the car in motion had been blowing it all over the under side. It may take you washing the under side if the motor off or getting it done, to spot the leak more easily.
A valve cover gasket leak will also cause oil to run dow the back of the motor. However, it usually won't get on the flywheel.
Good Luck. Let me know how things turn out.
