Question about Saturn SC2

1 Answer

I just bought a 1993 Saturn SC2 and the passanger side seatbelt (its the automatic seatbelt system) is stuck forward. Neither of the seatbelts move when I open the door and I checked the fuse (which was fine). Is there something else to get them working, or at least a way to get the seatbelt moved all the way back so it can be used again?

Its probally off the track, you should take the molding off and move it up and down to see if it moves/slides freely,as for them both not moving  does the other functions work proper when the belts are suppose to move because if they don't it may be the ones under the hood (which I cant think of the name of them right now)you know the bigger ones.

Whenever I open or close the doors the automatic seatbelts do not move. The seatbelts aren't a good position to be "Stuck" in. Please help?

they are worn out, nearly 20 years old and that stuff happens. the cost to buy new ones is more than the value of the car, if you can even find them. replacement seat belts for 91-95 saturns were over 400 dollars for each side and that was 5 years ago.

Need to replace fuse for automatic seatbelt but dont have manual. Fuse box panel has no description for where the fuse is

I think you will find that if you replace the fuse it will just blow out again as the system is so old that the eletric motors either don't work or encounter so much resistance trying to spin that old cable in that old track which has that old lubricant in it. To buy a new retractor, if you can find one, is over 400 dollars per side and all the ones left in junkyards are in similar shape.

1993 mercury villager- drivers side seatbelt is stuck.

You have a limit switch at each end of the seat belt track. One could be bad. Is belt stuck forward or at the back? It also has a module to control it.
It operates like a garage door opener. If you have to replace track, it's a big job. Have to take a lot of trim off the van. Best thing to do is get it in the rear position and just use the buckle. Get used part at car-part.com.

Automatic seatbelt 1994 saturn

You may have to replace the seatbelt positioner.
Check with Saturn (or their replacement GM division) to find if the warranty is extended for seatbelts (some manufacturers cover seatbelts forever) 800-553-6000

Automatic seat belt removal and replace with regular seat belts

You'd need to pickup the need parts at the junkyard. You'll need the "A" to "B" pillar trim, lower "B" pillar trim, front seat belts and seatbelt giude from a 1995 SC1 or SC2.

The treaded hole in the frame of the car where the track of the automatic seatbelt assembly attaches is in a slightly different place than the three point system. Its not a problem though. You just need to drill a 3/4" hole slightly above the existing hole in the trim panel. The existing hole is hidden by the seatbelt and not noticable at all.

Everything else pretty much bolts or snaps into place.

I've done this swap on several 1991-1994 Saturn S-Series.

The motor I believe, is located in the pillar between the doors. Remove the trim and pull the plug on the motor itself.

Saturn sc 2 seatbelt fuse

The fuse is in the center console, left side of passenger footwell. It is labelled PREST. for passive restraints. Possibly check the restraint module located in the center console, just under the E-brake lever.
