My advice to do it easy. Just find a battery booster which is already charged. Loose the bolt on the one terminal. You have to do it one after the other. So connect if you start with positive terminal put the clip (crocodile jaw ) on the positive wiring terminal and the other on the negative,so in this way you have continuous power.Remove the positive wire, clean the terminal on the battery and always be careful not to touch on any metallic surface,or by accident loose the connection. You tight the positive terminal and proceed the same way for the negative terminal. On doing so surely you will not loose and contact or power .

They make a battery energized unit (resembles a charger for a device) that plugs in to your cigarrette lighter that will maintain your vehicle's electrical settings; this will allow you the freedom to disconnect, clean, reattach the cables with ease - as stated, when loosening/tightening the positive cable, do not brush agains the metal - can place a towel over metal areas if it causes you to be uneasy during operation.

Battery failure ford diesel 350 -2003

I recently had the same complaint and after alot of trouble shooting I located my problem to be a wirring harnes conector on top of the engine for the injector pump moduel. The contacts looked real good however the theory is when they heat up they warp away from their mate and this activates the computor and keeps it from going into sleep mode thus draining the batteries. You could have any conector problem but I would look where the temperature changes the most. In my case I cut the conector out and soldered the wires together. My batteries seam much better now it has been 2.5 months which is a record for my batteries going dead.

well this engines are notorius to rougth idle, but my sugestion is to inspect your coolant temp sensor, check for corrotion in conector if any clean or replace conector, your engine has two temp sensor one is a single wire for your temp gage and other believe green conector with two wires this is for your computer, if no rust or corrotion found replace the sensor.
good luck

Just, Because you removed the battery connections and reinstalled them
will not repair a bad battery conection. Sounds like you have a bad conection at the battery. You'll need to remove the battery ends and clean
them with, a wire brush or a battery cleaning tool. Always, remove the NEG
conection FIRST,then the POS. After cleaning install the POS FIRST,Then
the NEG. Also, I believe there is a small conector on one of the cables.
Be sure to clean that conection also.
You, did not say if the lights are working.

Car won't start after a 25amp charger removed

Check that the battery terminal posts and cable fittings are clean and firmly attached to the battery.
Check battery ground is properly attached to vehicle chassis, and power cable is securley attached to the starter solenoid.
Check battery will supply headlights or other loads without dropping its terminal voltage below 12 to 12.5V.
If battery voltage is below 12v under load you may have a faulty battery.
If all above ok, and battery charge is ok you may have a faulty starter motor/solenoid.
Check the ground bar under the carpet by the drivers door sill for corrossion.

The solenoid is clicking but the car does not start

Hi,

A couple of possibilities:
  1. the switching contacts of the solenoid are burned - you can try jumping the battery cable straight to the starter motor terminal;
  2. the carbon brushes of the starter motor are gone and/or not making contact with the commutator segments - might require replacement of brushes or the entire motor
  3. the big battery cable is loose - checking/re-tightening/replacment of clamps/connectors.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
