    Sounds like the torque converter messing up or the transmission mounts are worn.

    Test the mounts with a crow bar. Have a transmission guy listen to the tranny while it is on the lift!

Check the fuse first.
If its good check for power getting to the pull-down mechanism.
If all is good so far, suspect the pull-down mechanism is faulty (common problems on caddys).

Make sure the fluid level is correct on the dipstick as the clutch packs will often take a while to fill with fluid and you may need to add more fluid

check the linkage hooked to side of the tranny,if everything is intact maybe one of th solenoide in the tranny has defaulted-hope that helps

1988 735 i transmission wont shift out of 1st gear just replaced it with 1 out of a 1987 735i


probably some stuck valves in the valve body...drop the tranny pan and pull the valve body....the valves have springs use a screwdriver and open and close all the valves a few times. put it back together and hope that fixes your prob.

My 1988 caddy electric fan(RAIDATOR) will not work. They say the fan works, but it won't work on it's own.


replace the fan temp sensor...should be located around the thermostat area. gl

I have a 88 and mine done the same thing. I recently had the central power supply rebuilt at a shop in Minnesota and the problem is fixed. After driving the car for 2 years with no working gauges, lights or heat. I now have lights, heat and air!!! I now love my caddy!

Those trannys are the most troublesome that I know I owned a repair facility 14 years and across the street was a tranny shop they were forever doin those trannys but once properly rebuil and maintained las a good long time but as far a a quick fix none I know of ya gotta go into the thing so while your there have it rebuilt and be done the engines are really dependable
