I would check the fuse first. If you have children that like to push buttons, that can toast the fuse and/or the solenoid or burn out a wire at the solenoid terminal connection. It could also be damaged if you closed the trunk latch on something hard. Does the solenoid click when you activate it? Did you pull the connector apart and visually inspect it for defects. It may be a stuck latch from washed out lubrcation, (use lithium spray, wd-40 corrodes metal, it is made for freeing stuck parts. Always use dielectric grease on any electrical connection including bulb sockects they will last longer (don't get it on bulb). It prevents corrosion and acts as a heat sink.
Good luck.

SOURCE: TRUNK WONT OPEN WITH TRUNK RELEASE BUTTON ON DASH OR WITH REMOTE

Check for broken wires running from the body to the trunk lid through the rubber boot. When the trunk is closing you can see the kink in the rubber boot. There are 11 wires to supply 1 solenoid so I think Chrysler knew there was problem.

SOURCE: 2010 Town & Country trunk won't shut

When you pull the trunk handle back towards yourself to open the trunk, it may be sticking in that position, so give the handle a tap to pop it back into its original position. Then shut the trunk and see if it has latched.

SOURCE: broke the only key to sebring jx convertible,

The easy way is to remove the pop trunk switch and locate a good area or the wiring to the pop trunk and cut it then touch the two wires together, thats the easy way water may damage the switch but wont damage all the wiring just find a good peice and cut and touch them together and trunk will pop open as long as the trunk release motor works, i would start there. another way would be to go to the dealer and give them the vin # and they will cut you a key.

the last thing to do if all fails is to have a lock smith make a key. hope this helps.

Wireless Key Remote door & trunk opener won't work with trunk anymore

When you press the trunk open button, do you hear any "release" noise come from the trunk area? The issue may be a bad battery in the key fob OR there could be an issue with the transmitter located inside the vehicle. Do the doors lock and unlock properly? is the vehicle equipped with security or immobilizer? please advise

Trunk won't open

Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.

Trunk won't open

First, if it does need an actuator, you can save some money on labor getting it done at an idependent aftermarket shop rather than the dealer. Yes, the part will most likely have to come from the dealer, but let the shop deal with that. You do not have to pay dealership labor rates. It would pay to shop around.

Second, before any parts are purchaced, the actual CAUSE of the problem needs to be verified. Unfortunately, the ONLY way to do that is to get the trunk lid open and inspect the trunk lid latch components. If none of the three methods provided by the manufacturer for opening the trunk in a normal fashion will work, the trunk will have to be accessed by removing the back seat. Once the back seat is removed, a technician can reach into the trunk and remove the bolts that secure the trunk latch to get the trunk open. The latch parts can then be accessed to disassemble, inspect, and repair accordingly.

Please note that this is the ONLY way to do this without causing further damage to the vehicle. DO NOT allow anyone to attempt getting into the trunk any other way! (Do not use pry bars or screwdrivers on the trunk lid, key tumblers, etc..)

Trunk won't open

The actuator may sound as though it is working but the latch could be damaged or misaligned. Also, the actuator could be too weak to operate the latch. If it is necessary to replace the actuator, your Camry is old enough to make a junkyard a likely source.

1. Open trunk
2. Place latch in lock position
3. Pull inside trunk release to see what isn't moving
4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced
