SOURCE: Transmission service

I have a 99 F150 with 92,500 mi. on it and I have never had mine done and I tow lots of things. The key to transmission fluid and filter change is, if the trans shifts bad or does not pull the same then change it before you do any more troubleshooting, if you change it and still have problems then additional troubleshooting will be necessary. If you want to service your trans for peace of mind then change the fluid and filter, make sure that the level is full and correct. $150 dollars for an oil change on a light duty pickup is a little pricy.

The clutch is losing fluid! Could it be the slave cylinder?

It's a common cause for clutch failure on these trucks. Depending on the setup in your truck, it may be a on the pilot shaft type that would require removel of the transmission. You should be able to remove a inspection plug to look inside the bellhousing to see if it's leaking.

Were is the trasmission fluid ..anything on this engin? cant find the dip stick or were to add fluid.

If it's a stander transmission you add under your truck on the side of the transmission where it reads fill, if it's automatic it's has to have and dip stick for that year truck.could be missing check the side of transmission above transmission pan toward the front for a hole where the tube goes in, it would also be leaking if gone.

What kind of fluid do I use in my 2006 F-150 transmission?

If automatic (probably is) you will be using Automatic Transmission Fluid. Please Ensure that you buy the correct type as some of the cheaper brands will actually damage you transmission. for further details, it would be in your owners manual, if not, try contacting your local ford dealer and just ask there service department.

good luck

Ford f 150 1988 clutch has no spring and lays on the floor clutch does not work the pedal is on the floor fluid is full. does this need to be bleed?

Yes, there is a bleeder screw on the side of the transmission. Have someone pump the clutch pedal with the engine off. Open the screw and let out the air and repeat until the pedal comes back. Good luck

I cant find the transmission fluid dip stick or where to fill it

The manual transmission does not have a dipstick. The fluid level is determined by a fill plug in the side of the tranny. If the fluid is up to the level of the fill hole, then it is full.
