There is no connector for this OBD1 system use this to retrieve codes.

Do the following to make the "CHECK ENGINE" light blink the error codes. Without starting the engine, turn the ignition key on, off, on, off, and back to on. The "CHECK ENGINE" light will flash the first digit, pause and then flash the second digit of any stored error. Example: one flash and pause and eight flashes = number 18 error code.

Overdrive and cruise control don't work on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0?

cruise is last. the brains in the car dont allow this dangerous device to run, if things are bad. (even dead brake lights)
imagine cruise control out of control for a moment or with grand ma driving?
same with over-drive.
so what is wrong. well 1 simple answer
you failed to scan the PCM, and see those errors, causing those
symptoms.
scan it
get it scanned
win.

How do i fix my dash boar it turns off when the car is on 98 grand jeep cherokee

no comma's used. wow.
ok,
dash board goes dead, everything , radio too?
head lights go dead.
or just the cluster dies. or just cluster back lights in PARK mode.
car runs ok.?

the cluster (if only its bad) has 2 fuses, replace those.
if that dont fix it ,scan the pcm ,
using any scan tool ever sold.

in all cases, scan it, use a real scan tool and scan the PCM.
how you do that is your call.

2002 jeep grand cherokee overland security system will sometimes engage and wont start

ok the SCAN tool shows why?
did you scan first?
if not this work will be impossible.. see why?
eg; DTC errors
wrong key
comm errors to SKIM
SKIM dead.
etc.....

i have an innova 3160 (at home) that scans and works 100% for all passive scans and all factory codes. (some tools dont do jeep codes)

buy the tool or tow car to any ASE mech to do same
he will. after checking all fuses first.

the ASD relay caused the stall. or no start.
if the realy drops cranking
the scan tool told you why there are 8 reasons, stated .
see all 8 here,
http://www.fixkick.com/Jeeps/ASD.html

security reason is but 1 of 8 reasons,

no scanner no joy , on todays cars.
and is not expensive, about 1hrs shop labor and you have a tool.

Airbag light is iluminating on the instrument cluster

have the jeep scanned by a dealership NOW!!
unless you dont mind driving with the airbags disabled!!,
--you basically have an error with the air bag system!!,
and can only be diagnosed by the dealer's scanning software,(welcome to new age cars!)
