thats your TPMS light, Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The light means that one of your tires is low on air, so check them all and fill them to the specified amount, which will be located on the drivers side door jamb.

I have looked at the owner's manual and I do not see this warning light. It sounds like a low coolant light. Here is a free downloadable owner's manual for your 1998 Ford Explorer.
