Re: replacement of fuel pump ,filter & its location.
Try this, I had the same problem and I thought it was the fuel pump. My car would turn over but the fuel pump would not kick on. I changed out the fuel pump relay and and still nothing. I check the wiring to the fuel pump and it was not getting any power. Eventually I ended tracing the problem down to the power surge relay which is located by the battery it had gotten moisture inside it and burnt up the coil.

the filter is on the frame., drivers side. The pump is inside the fuel tank. the problem wont be the filter, but you should replace it anyhow when replacing the pump. be sure to check the fuse and relay. the pump should come on when turning the key on, for 2 seconds, and when cranking. sometimes you can rap on the bottom of the fuel tank and get the pump going. if that gets it going, you need a pump.
It sounds like the fuel strainer is clogged or one of the filters is clogged. start by taking the fuel primer pump and attempt to prime system if the pump handle sucks back down when you attempt to pump there is a clog in the system. There is a lot of water in diesel fuel and they build up algea over a number of years and generally the fuel strainer(part at fuel tank that the feed line attatches too) clog up. you can remove them and clean them. Good luck
All of the fuel filters with exception of the V6 Odyssey models are located on the vehicle's firewall, in line with the fuel line feeding the engine's fuel rail. The fuel filter on the 3.5L V6 Odyssey is located in the fuel tank and requires fuel pump removal to access. Fuel filters located on the firewall should be replaced if the fuel filter exhibits signs of seepage or corrosion. Always replace a fuel filter and its sealing washers if the fuel system has become contaminated, if the fuel system fuel pressure drops below specification prior to replacing the fuel pump, or whenever the fuel pump is replaced.
