Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a Monroe Tailgate mounted salt spreader on a Ford F550 mason dump. The hydraulic controls are mounted on the floor in the cab. Whenever I push the lever down to power up the spreader the control box hisses loudly like it is under too much pressure and it is very hard to push the lever down. Also the auger control is on 0 and still puts out a large amount of material. turning the dial up makes no change to the speed of the auger. And the spinner control must be set to 11 to keep up with the amount of material being pout out. What could be the problem here?

SOURCE: ABS brakes shudder

YOU NEED A SCANNER TO MONITOR THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. THE ABS IS SENSING A SKID AND THE ABS IS ACTIVATED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THERE MAY BE A CODE FOR THE HUB THAT IS CAUSING THE ABS TO ACTIVATE.

CHECK THE WIRES FROM THE SENSORS FOR BREAKS OR CHAFFING. AN OHM READING OF THE SENSOR SHOULD BE 850-1200 OHMS, AND AND A-C VOLTAGE READING SHOULD BE 100 MV WITH YOU TURNING THE WHEEL BY HAND.

SOURCE: 2002 Honda Odyssey fan only works at high speed. The A/C compress

Usually when the blower fan only operates on hi speed, its because of a failed blower motor resistor. You still have hi speed because on hi, the power going to the blower motor goes directly to it, as opposed to the lower speeds, when the power is routed through the resistor, thus lowering the voltage, which in turn lowers the speed of the fan. The resistor is usually located near the blower motor itself, under the hood back near the firewall.

SOURCE: Stalls at low speed when in cruise control

You sould have recieved a "recall" notice in the mail about the cruise control for fire and failure issues. they are adding a fusable link where the cruise control harness connects to the brake master cylinder. if you have not had the recall performed yet you should SERIOUSLY consider getting it done, mainly so it doesnt catch fire, but "could" be the result of the failure you've been experiancing! btw, almost ALL Ford vehicles have been affected with the cruise control recall. hope this helps!

There is a fuse box under the hood that has the fuses that control the wire harness. There are at least 2 boxes, mine were on the drivers side wheel well near the rear of the engine compartment.

On a 98 gmc hand held controller hit up or left or right blade swings to the right only and the volts drop its a fisher mm1

Try doing a flush and refill of the hydraulic pump AND the left-right cylinders.
The voltage drop is normal whenever the plow pump is straining.

Tailgate latches wont function

I had a similar problem. Rust can be a pain in the ***! It might be best to hit the junkyards for a replacement ! Then spray the hell out of it with rust inhibitor. The one you have probably has bent control rods, broken springs and bent or cracked latches. I had the '95 F150 with extended cab...it rusted so badly it was dropping parts all over the road just before I dumped it last year.

How to change cab mount bushings

Remove Cab bolts and lift body with lift. If lift is not accessible then remove mount bolts on one side and jack with block of wood to reduce body damage possiblity (Use body line). Jack body just high enough to remove bushing. Use caution watch hands and avoid pinch points whenever possible.

HOW DO I REPLACE CAB MOUNT BUSHINGS

Cab mount bushings are a royal pain. From experience ypu may as well get new bolts and some nuts to fit while you are ordering the bushings. Also get new plates that mount against the bushings. It's not very common for any of these parts to be reusable. The front mount bolts may come out with a socket and strong arm but make sure you are using a 1/2" drive socket not the common 3/8. I believe the socket is 19mm. If the bolts break or won't unscrew you will have to cut a hole in the floor to get at the welded nut. There are 2 layers in the floor where the cab mounts are located. Measure from 2 access points to get an approximate location for the hole.

You can almost guarantee that you will have to cut holes in the floor to get the rear ones out. You will also have to remove the seat to get enough room to work on them.

Once you have to old ones out a small hydraulic jack and a block of wood will lift the cab enough to take the old mount out and install the new one. Use the block to support the cab when you jack so you don't dent the floor. Do them in pairs so the cab doesn't end up crooked on the frame. You can expect this to be an all day job. Hope this helps.

It sounds like the clutch needs replaced or the clutch cable. You can try readjusting the cable but more than likely it has stretched to far and needs to be replaced.

ABS hydraulic control unit

Go to Module Master. I had the same problem sent mine in and came back. took less then 5 minutes to R/R. www.modulemaster.com

Prior to 2004, Durangos with 4 wheel ABS use the Kelsey Hayes Dodge controller attached to the hydraulic unit. Durangos with just rear wheel ABS use the Kelsey Hayes 125 located separately from the hydraulic unit.
2004 and later Durangos use the Bosch 5.4 controller.

Kelsey Hayes Dodge 1) Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2) Push the harness connector locks to release the locks, then remove the connectors from the CAB.
3) Disconnect the pump motor connector.
4) Remove screws attaching CAB to the HCU.
5) Remove the CAB.

Kelsey Hayes 125 1) Push the CAB harness connector lock to release the lock and remove the connector from the controller.
2) Remove the RWAL valve harness connector from the controller.
3) Remove the controller mounting screws and remove the controller from the mounting bracket.

Bosch 5.4 1) Pull out the side locking tab on the Bosch controller as shown.
2) Remove the connector.
3) Remove the 6 screws and separate the controller from the hydraulic unit.
