Question about 1999 Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

Oil leak for some reason i keep on adding oil to my 1999 mitsubishi galant and it appears to be leaking through the distruibuitor cap.my mechanic told me that there was an o-ring that prevents the leaking.if so he told me that it was to be removed and to be careful about the timming on the distruibutor itself.is there an easier way to fix this problem...?

the leak is in the evaporator system that purges fumes out of the tank. check for leaks in all systems that attach to tank. all it takes is a rotten rubber line with a crack in it.

Oil Leaks I have an 2003 Mits. Galant GTZ...with117K miles. My question is, i've noticed oil spots on the ground under the car, a burning smell when i've driven along with smoke. In addition to a squealing...

the seal will gradually start leaking more as time goes by and needs to be replaced, but in the mean time if u keep the oil full and it does not go below low line on dipstick you can drive with no engine damage. sometimes adding oil leak additive to oil will help , using a slightly heavier oil during warm weather will often help reduce oil loss and give you more time to get enough money to replace seal. If engine gets too low on oil it will cause major engine damage.

2000 Mitsubishi Galant, EA3A 2.4l motor. Oil leal

don't use 20w50 that is too heavy an oil for that motor. the most i would use is like a 10w40 and that is a last resort. your valves need adjusting or the hydraulic lash adjusters may be gunked up. there is a chemical called auto-rx (search web) that could help you out. just follow the directions for it. the only other oil seals i can think of are oil pan gasket, oil filter gasket, rear main seal, valve cover gasket.

Water leak on mitsubishi galant 1999

the probable cause is the drain for the ac coil is stopped up for an a/c leak inside.
if it smells like anti-freeze, the heater coil is leaking and may need to be replaced.
