Re: Low Coolant light stays on
Check you coolant resevoir. The low coolant switch is located in the resevoir so if it is low on coolant there, the light will come on. If it is full, it could be that the switch is stuck due to gunk build up in the resevoir. Hope this helps you out

The gauge is showing your temperature not coolant level. Open the hood and remove the coolant cap and top up. Burp the systems by squeezing the hoses. Top up again and replace the radiator cap. Now remove the cap on the water reservoir and fill that to the line. Use antifreeze not water.
Yes, the temperature gauge should normally stop in the middle, between the cold and hot points on the gauge. When the engine is cold the thermostat will be closed and will keep recirculating the coolant in the engine block until it warms up sufficiently. Then the temperature of the warm coolant will cause the thermostat to open the channel to the radiator to get rid of excess heat, which should stop the coolant from over heating. So the effect of the thermostat keeps the coolant at a fairly stable temperature. When the coolant runs low, it can't transfer enough heat to the radiator and the coolant and engine then over heats. Watch for radiator leaks under your car after you have been driving it. If the coolant goes low again fairly quickly you could have a leak in a hose or the radiator itself.

I WOULD CHECK BOTH RADIATOR HOSES TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE HOT. THERMOSTAT COULD BE STICKING SLIGHTLY CLOSED.CHECK COOLANT LEVEL MAKE SURE COOLANT NOT LOW.IF COOLING NOT BOILING OUT OF THE EXPANSION TANK. I WOULD HAVE CAR HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOTIC SCANNER AND CHECK COOLANT TEMPERATURE SEE IF TEMP. OVER 230 DEGREES IF SO RADIATOR COOLING FANS NOT WORKING.COOLANT THERMO SWITCH BAD BOTH FANS SHOULD BE RUNNING AT LOW SPEED.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY LOW COOLANT SENSOR IN EXPANSION TANK.MAKE SURE COOLANT IS IN THE EXPANSION TANK BECAUSE COOLANT LEVEL COULD BE LOW.ADD COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK UNTIL YOU AT MAX LEVEL LINE ON THE EXPANSION TANK.DONT OVER FILL THE EXPANSION KEEP ADDING COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAYS AT THE MAX LEVEL LINE ON THE EXPANSION TANK.

With the engine cool, Check coolant level, or may be overheating. If coolant is low or severely low, fill it, keep cap off and start engine, allow it to run and continue to add antifreeze until level of coolant stops going down and replace cap. Fill the expansion (overfill) tank to the full cold level. Allow engine to reach operating temperature while observing the engine, radiator, and hoses for leak and look under car for drips. Also check for wet carpet inside at the front, usually on the passenger side (not sure exactly where heater core is in your Kia), so also check the drivers side. This will indicate a defective heater core, if the leak is bad. If the leak is only minor in a heater core you will notice a sweet smell inside and/or windows will steam up when you run the defrost. Also, if coolant is low check radiator cap, If you don't have to push down with slight-medium force to turn and remove it, it may be leaking there. Hope this helps.
No heat is often a symptom of low coolant, usually followed by overheat. There are other controls that regulate heater, but right now, re-fill the cooling system with engine running and heater on high, then check for leaks (coolant you lost went somewhere...you need to determine where) Low coolant will damage your engine. Take care of that first, then if heater still does not work, then do diagnosis on that. (if you loose the engine heat won't matter, will it!)
Could be just the coolant has gotten onto the water temp sensor and is causing it to ground out,,,this may clear up when it dry's completely.
If not,,then the temp sensor may be stuck in the grounded position, and may need replacement.
