Chevy 2001heater core needs to be replaced

I bought the new heater core, I just need the instructions on how to replace it. I have a book, but not with me and this thing is spraying anti-freeze everywhere.

Thanks.

Go under the hood,, find where the heater hoses come out of the motor,,,then take a short piece of rubber hose and put it in a "U" shaped configuration thereby making the coolant travell right back into the engine and by-passing the heater core altogether.
If you do this correctly,,,then you will be able to add some water or better still "Coolant" and then drive home or to a garage.

I bought a 99 tahoe four door 5.7 350. No heat. Previous owner bypassed heater core. Need to see how heater hoses attach.

Have you replaced the heater core? If not, most likely the reason the previous owner bypassed the heater core was because it leaked. I will be happy to send you photos of how the hoses attach but I will need your email address.

there should be an access panel under the glove box for this year model. if the access panel is not there then you have to remove the dash to get the heater core out. GM made the switch with the access panel to no panel somewhere close to this time depending on the build date of the truck.

Heater core

Most large auto parts stores have the book for your truck with a section on the heater core. Call the store first then if they have the book go and read the heater core replacement section to be surre its in the book.
I hope this helps you.

Replacing a heater core

YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE DASH BOARD. IT WILL BE BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX. LOOK UNDERNEATH THE DASH AND YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE A PANEL TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE HEATER CORE. THE PANEL WILL BE ABOVE THE PASSENGERS FEET ON THE FIREWALL.
