All you do is open up the gas cap where you fill the tank at you do not need to remove any fuses but if you feel better take the negative side of the battery off first especially if you have a remote starter

Replace fuel pump

Instructions
    • Locate the fuse panel under the hood of your vehicle, then open it and remove the fuel pump fuse with your hands.
    • 2Start your car and allow the fuel system to depressurize by allowing the car to idle until the engine dies.
    • 3
    • Reinstall the fuse, then disconnect the battery with a ratchet and socket. Drain the gas from the gas tank with a siphoning kit.
    • 4Remove the back seat by unbolting the base with a ratchet and socket and lifting the seat out with your hands. The bolts are located on either side of the seat near the base. You will also need the assistance of another person to lift the seat out safely.
    • 5Remove the wiring harness by gently pulling it from the connector, and detach the rubber grommet with a flat head screwdriver. Unbolt the fuel tank cover with a ratchet and socket, remove it with your hands, pull the wires through the grommet, detach the fuel line hoses with a fuel-line disconnect tool, and lift the hoses out. Cap the hoses with rubber hose plugs.
    • 6Reach directly into the gas tank, then remove the fuel filter using two adjustable wrenches, placing one on either side of the fuel filter. You will recognize the fuel filter by its filtering paper cartridges.
    • 7Install the new filter, then follow the previous steps in reverse to complete the installation. Refill your gas take when finished.

FUEL FILTER CHANGE

Hello there, here are a few key notes to assist you:
  • Open the hood for access to the engine compartment. Depressurize the fuel line by pulling the fuel pump relay. The relay is located in the fuse panel under the hood behind the battery.
  • Start the truck and allow it to stall. The fuel system is depressurized. Insert the relay back into the fuse panel.
  • Locate the fuel filter by tracing the fuel lines coming out of the fuel tank. The filter will be located a foot from the tank under the truck on the driver side.
  • Unscrew the inlet and outlet lines by loosening the fuel line with a line wrench. Hold the filter in place by holding the nut on the filter with a second line wrench.
  • Pull the filter out of the mounting bracket by sliding it out and away from the bracket.
  • Slide the new filter into the mounting bracket. Ensure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the front of the truck, as it designates the direction of fuel flow.
  • Screw the inlet and outlet lines onto the filter by hand. Tighten with a line wrench. Use a second line wrench to hold the filter still while tightening.
  • Start the truck by turning the ignition to the "Start" position. Hold the key in this position for two seconds to allow the fuel pump to push fuel through the lines. Repeat this until the truck starts.
  • Allow the truck to idle while inspecting the filter for any leaks. Inspect around the filter and the fuel lines.
Good luck...

Where is the fuel filter on my 2001 ford escape 3.0?

On the 2005 it is actually part of the fuel pump in the tank. However, there is a fuel filter located under the vehicle, passenger side by the gas tank.

Ford ranger is shacking and sputters when I shut it off.

Have it checked for codes...may be an idle control or EGR issue. If you ran it dry, then you need to change the fuel filter ASAP...the truck is old enough to have sediment in the tank and a clogged filter will stress and damage your fuel pump. Make sure to depressurize the fuel system before pulling the filter to avoid getting a face full of gasoline.

Trying to change fuel filter on a 2008 escape. took off 2 metal clips and bracket holding filter. filter turns around gas line, but how do you get it off gas line? I don't want to force it

They make cheap fuel line removal tools and can pick them up at any auto parts store. They can explain how to use them. Its really easy. Find the tool that's closest to your fuel line size, they also sell a universal pack for around $5. Open the tool mouth so it goes over your fuel line with male part of the tool facing the female slide it in. Then your line can be pulled out. Careful the line are under pressure with gas. It will only leak for a few seconds. Then replace your fuel filter and the lines just snap back on, no tools necessary. Check for leaks and your done. Good Luck!

Fuel filter at foer escape 2001 4w chenging

start the engine  open the hood and remove the system fuse
the engine will stall, the pressure is now relieved
the fuel filter is in front of the fuel tank, driver side
wear gloves/saftey glasses and have a fire extinguisher available (who knows!) the filter will have 2 hoses attached at either end. white/yellowish clips attach these hoses. feel for the top of the clip and push the 2 ends in and down. you may have to use a screw driver to pry the bottom of the clip as well. pull the bottom of the clip down, it will not come out of the coupling completely. repeat for both lines, pull lines firmly off of filter. unscrew filter from hose clamp. approx 6-10 oz of fuel will spill from lines and filter. you should use a pan. install new filter, in same direction as last. insert new clips into coupling, discard old. clip on "out" side may be reused if an R clip. tighten clamp on filter, attach hoses. push in clips to lock. inspect for leaks, wipe entire area clean of fuel. insert fuse and attempt to start. Cycle the ignition to run and off three times before starting to pressurize the fuel line. Good luck and hope this helps.

Stalling when letting up on gas

Possible

1. Air filter, clean the air filter first and try it again, if it is the air filter cause this problem and get a new one put in.

2. check your oil cover cap, see if there are some white steam bubbling mixed with oil, if it is, maybe either the head gas kit or the block leaking, also check your coolant level. sometime you will see oil in your radiator. means the block is leaking

Hope this can help a little bit

3. Cooling fan doesn’t function right and cause over heat.

4. How many miles on this car?

I wish I can be there for you, let discuss this
