There are a number of different hub systems so this may not work but it has worked for me on both auto and manual locking hubs. On a flat surface without traffic. Put the trans into neutral, shift the transfer case into 4x4, shift the trans into reverse and back the truck up 15-20 feet. Completely stop and shift trans into drive. See if this has locked the hubs in. If not, you can also try following the same instructions except shifting into 4wd low. Sometimes the hubs need a "bump" to get them to slip into place. Keep In mind that if the 4 wd low select works, you need to shift it back into 4 wd high before continuing! When taking the truck out of 4wd to 2wd, I recommend the same, shift to neutral, select 2wd, back truck up, shift back to drive and check. Its entirely possible that your hubs need maintenance (they're often overlooked) but hopefully this will get you going. Please let me know if thus worked or if I can offer other suggestions. Your hubs may not be locking. With your hubs in the locked position, raise the front tires off the ground, manually rotate each front tire and see if the axle connected to the tire spins along with the tire. If not your hubs may not be locking the wheel to the axle. Good luck.
Automatic Locking Hubs REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
The following procedure covers removal & installation only, for the hub assembly. The hub should be disassembled ONLY if overhaul is necessary. In that event, an overhaul kit will be required. Follow the instructions in the overhaul kit to rebuild the hub.
Remove the capscrews and washer from the hub cap.

Remove the hub cap and spring.
Remove the bearing race, bearing and retainer.
Remove the keeper from the outer clutch housing.
Remove the large snapring to release the locking unit. The snapring is removed by squeezing the ears of the snapring with needle-nose pliers.
Remove the locking unit from the hub. You can make this job easier by threading 2 hub cap screws into the outer clutch housing and hold these to pull out the unit.
Wipe clean all parts and check for wear or damage.
Coat all parts with the same wheel bearing grease you've used on the bearings.
Position the locking unit in the hub and install the large snapring. Pull outward on the unit to make sure the snapring is fully seated in its groove.
Install the keepers.
Install the bearing retainer, bearing and race. Make sure that the bearing is fully pack with grease.
Coat the hub cap O-ring with wheel bearing grease and install the hub cap.
Install the capscrews and washers. Tighten the screws to 45 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
Manual Locking Hubs
The engagement and disengagement of the hubs is a manual operation which must be performed at each hub assembly. The hubs should be placed FULLY in either Lock or Free position or damage will result.
WARNING Do not place the transfer case in either 4-wheel mode unless the hubs are in the Lock position!
Locking hubs should be run in the Lock position periodically for a few miles to assure proper differential lubrication.
There is a possibility the axel U-joint is binding, this will put side load on the hubs and keep them from working properly. Turn the steering wheel either far right or left and with front of truck off the ground or the front end disengaged, see if the axel shafts turn free, both sides. If there is binding the U-joint(s) will have to be replaced.
Do you have manual locking hubs on the front? If you do, you have to turn them to 'lock' position. If you have automatic hubs, you skip that step. Never shift into 4x4 low range while moving. You must come to a complete stop to shift in or out of low range. Regular 4x4 (high range) can be engaged while you are moving. Let off the gas, and put it in 4x4 high range, do the same to go back to 2 wheel drive. Vehicles that are part time 4x4 (can be shifted in and out of 4x4) should never be driven in 4x4 while on a dry surface, as you can cause excessive wear or even failure of the system. So only use it in snow, off road, etc. Have a safe trip!
Only the "S" model has the manual locking hubs. Auto locking hubs look like normal center on a whel; only bigger. Manual locking hubs woul have and indent in the middle of hub and a raised ridge to grab with your finger to rotate the hub into the locked position. There should be some writting on the hub edge telling you which way to turn to lock and unlock.
if u got automatic front hubs stop put in park pull 4x4 shifter into 4 wheel
manual hubs at front wheels turn the hub locks to the lock position and then pull the 4 wheel shifter inti 4 wheel
also look over drivers sun visor if the tag aint worn off the direction are there... have fun 4 wheeling and keep the rubber side down
