they are usually built into the drive axle housing to the right of the front gear box to the left of the passenger front tire. There should be a plate with four bolts and a set of wires that goes to it and it will have a vaccum line on it.

    Hope that helps you out

It should look like that with the wire connector and 2 vaccum lines

    1)wire connector

    2)vaccum lines

you can check to see if there getting vaccom by letting the truck run and pull them off the module and have someone put it into four wheel drive and then take it out again and if it is getting vaccum it should switch between the 2 lines if it does then it won't be the vaccum line

  • Damian Lyman Jan 20, 2009

if it is getting vaccum to both lines then you can take the module off and see if it is sliding back and fourth manualy by crabing the fork and sliding it back and fourth it should slide fairly easy if not then you will need a new one

    Hope this helps you out

4 wheel drive lights flashes but then returns to 2wheel drive -- some time it will lock in 4w low but both 4w hi and 4w low lights are on --- have new tccm module.

It is the shift motor for the 4wheel drive - only problem is that a shop has to program the new shift motor to the blazer or it will keep doing the same thing

How to shift a 1998 jeep grand cherokee into 4 wheel drive

Four low is almost never used. I use it on very steep rocky or muddy trails in the woods or to pull someone out of mud or a ditch. Though some will shift standing still it is best do do this while rolling. Four high can be shifted at low speeds of 2 to about 35mph (higher also but not really good idea) Low can only be shifted between 2 to 10mph. If you find yourself stuck and unable to shift because you aren't rolling you can also turn the engine off, engage the transfer case and re-start. That avoids having the gears clashing together. Best rule is if it begins to grind, don't force it.

Manual Transmission seems to be stuck in low range. Transfer case in 2wd high range, however when transmission is shifted to 5th gear still only going 25 mph at 4000pm. Clutch seems to be engaging and...

The transfer case is stuck in the low range. If manual shift try shifting from low to high several times to see if free up. If electronic, check all fuses and make sure you hear transfer case change range. Do this by shifting with key on engine off. If no change refer to qualified transmission mechanic.

I have a 1992 Ford Bronco and it began to hesitate tonight while driving. I put the gear in low and now I dont know how to get the truck back into the correct gear. Im not familiar with the floor gears

look at the driver side visor the shift pattern is printed there. it should be also on the shift lever itself . I think 2 wheel high is all the way forward then back 1 is neutral back 1 more is 4w low and all the way back is 4w high

Shifting into 4 wheel drive

For 4W Hi either be stopped or moving at a slow rate of speed (<20 MPH) and move your 4WD selector to the 4 Wheel Hi position.

For 4W Lo stop and move the selector from 2W Hi to 4W Hi then push down on the selector and move through N into 4W Lo.

4LO problem

Sounds like you may have a problem with the power steering pump. Notorious for these pumps shaft to break, causing "armstrong" power steering. As far as the 4wd low problem, ick.
