Question about 1991 Toyota 4Runner
I live in Minnesota and my 4-Runner has made a very loud noise under the hood/passenger foot area when cold. It used to just do it a small amount and then quit. Now it is way worse. Hitting a bump can trigger it and hitting another bump can make it quit. It also stops making the noise when I come to a complete stop. I just realized it only does it in 2H and not 4H. Any idea what might be causing this?

-it could be the sawy bar linkages
-but also check to see if the struts are leaking or that it looks damp
-but because you said it doesn't look like it bouncing when you hit a dip most likely it could be that the struts are dead
-check to see the cars ride hieght that would give you a clue

make sure the back window is all the way up then try the wiper, if it still does not work then it is a sensor for the rear window (about $30.00) if you installed it yourself

The last couple of times I have seen this complaint, the "Lock" button on the master (driver's door) switch had been depressed. Unlatching the lock button (pushing it again) solved the problem. On most cars, when the lock button is depressed, the windows can still be operated by the driver, but prevent the windows from being operated by the passengers. Toyota is different. If the lock button is depressed, nobody, including the driver can work the wndows.
