Question about 1994 Isuzu Trooper

94 isuzu trooper steering gear leaking

I can see power steering fluid pouring from the drivers side steering gear.
I have checked,i think, everywhere for a rebuild kit for this part, found one at auto zone website only to find they(or anyone else for that matter)could no longer get it.
I have found a new steering gear but it is $500 bones, allot for me right now.
Does anyone know if this particular part is shared with any other vehicles?
Perhaps I could find it that way,Thanks in advance

Thanks millsey42,I have removed the old steering box, broke 2 pitman arm pullers, until taking it to a machine shop to get arm off, took 5 minutes/10 bucks, ordered a replacement steering gear for $50 via,(less than the new gasket rebuild kit).and am hoping its in the mail today.I will order gasket rebuild anyway(when money allows)and rebuild the old one if not only to yell TAKE THAT STEERING BOX!But also to understand the inner workings.

Youre leaking steering box is most likely an easy fix, the leak can be rectified by changing the lower shaft seal but this means removal of the pitman arm. you can remove the seal and get it matched up at any industrial supplier

Steering gone hard on one side on idle not so much when driving with revs

you may have a bad power steering pump i would first check the fluid and if that is ok i would have a pressure test done at the pump. you may also need to check the power steering rack.

I need to fill the transmission fluid on my 94 trooper but cannot find the filler cap

Remove the transmission dipstick, get a funnel and pour it down the dipstick housing. Replace dipstick and check frequently until full. Hope this helps!

Is it possible for the radiator to leak fluid into the trans causing the trans to go bad on a 2000 trooper?

If you have coolant in your transmission, I would examine the transmission cooler if it is inside the radiator. I can think of no other way that could happen outside of someone pouring coolant into the transmission fill tube.

I just bought a 2002 trooper, 142k miles. Where is the transmission / power steering dip stick ?

The transmission doesn't have a dip stick you will have to take some where and have them check it, unless you feel comfortable doing it your self. The power steering on the other hand. If you pop the hood look around you should see a black cap that says powersteering fluid, when you take the cap off it should have a dip stick attached to the lid if not there will be a fluid level mark on the side of the tank, which you took the lid off of.
