SOURCE: Automatic Transmission shifts late and rough after warm

If it has over 60000 miles it may need a transmission service, which includes a filter and fluid change, fluid may look fine but if filter is clogged and not picking up fluid fast enough when u give it gas the pump spins faster and forces fluid thru to shift, more fluid is needed to shift into higher gear.than to drive

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.

SOURCE: rough reverse and shifting problems

the transmission incorporates several electronic solenoids inside the valve body and is very succeptable to metal contamination and fragments getting in the wrong places...if your opposed to replacing that valve body ,which can be serviced under hood fairly easy...try a complete fluid and external filter change and if your lucky ,the valves might free up from the high detergent level in the A/T oil....good luck

Classic not go into drive I clean the linkage. going to buy the filter kit today. car was stole month ago I got it wont go into drive anymore. Is this why can drive in reverse

Filter and fluid isn't going to fix this problem. Could be the clutch band or forward clutches. Either is a transmission rebuild or replace. Smell the transmission fluid. Smell burnt?

What could the problem be with 1999 villager wont go forward or reverse?

I forget the name, but it could be the shift connecttion. It the connection point behind the shifter in the car and the transmission. The port disconnected mine in my car cause they couldn't figure out how to shift it. It basically put the car into nuetral. No forward no reverse. But engine runs fine.

Check the computer controlled idle valve or motor. And clean it and the air passages it controls with a sensor safe cleaner. Throttle body cleaner or intake cleaner made by CRC (at Napa) works good. Check for a dirty air filter.

Reverse wont engage in my 1998 cevy 10 van

Considering the age and possible milage put upon your transmission at this point in time it is very possible that the valve body is at fault. There are several small ball bearings that position themselves during gear changes. These, over a period of time can accumulate a pasty type of buildup that will not remove it self which causes them to sit incorrectly in there sinks. The sinks therefore become ovalized causing a open seal situation. My suggestion at this time would be a rebuild, if, you think it is worth it. Shop around!! Very important.

Reverse died, engine HOT, drive lurches

I would have to say that your transmission failed. The Tranmission was trying to lock up and the engine was being forced to labor extra hard and that is what more than likely created the extra heat.
