Question about 2002 Toyota Corolla
My roomate broke the reclining mechanism and now the seat only reclines pretty far back. it feels like the first 3 notches are broken. what part to i need and how do i fix it?

Use "pool noodles" that you have pre- cut into lengths equal to the width of the base. Some experimenting will be needed; you may have to stack them like a pyramid, with more towards the back of the seat. Bath towels work as well but are more slippery on leather.

I don't know of any way to adjust the electric seats. More than likely what has happened is the gears stripped on the seat when you were hit. The seat should have been repaired by insurance. But I have been a mechanic for over 22 years. And I have never heard of adjusting a power seat.

The lock is likely stripped.This often happens when too much pressure is placed on the seat back and damages the ratchet mechanism.I would recommend replacing the seat frame

Either scour salvage yards or pay high dealer prices for such items. Those are the only options I can think of.
