Question about 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse

1 Answer

Help please! I have a 1991 eclipse and the clutch feels really soft. we got really cold weather and then the next thing i know, the clutch is not working. it will grind when you put it in gear (reverse only because you can't get in any other gears) and the cylinder looks like there is something not releasing. can't really tell unless we jacked it up but it's way too cold outside right now. the car still runs fine but you just can't go anywhere. and it's looking like the slave cylinder, but i'm not a car expert. i'm a girl. but there is a thing that is supposed to touch another thing for the clutch and it does, but it doesn't pop back up like it supposed to. and the clutch like i said feels really soft and it's like it's not in the right spot inside the car. the petal is further back than the brake and won't come up any further than that like it used to.

ok well, bleeding the clutch didn't work, and we found out that it is most likely the master cylinder. i'll try it and if it works i'll let you know!

I haven't fixed mine yet but sounds as we are having the same problem. My plan is this..once i get it the car in gear the clutch does not slip so I am going to change the slave cylinder first, if that does not fix it I will replave the clutch and presssure plate and bearing. Hopefully the cheap fix will do it for the time being. Clutch 100.00 yourself..shop cost around 500.00, slave cylinder yourself 50 to 60 dollars. Hmm..Guess we hope for the.

1991 f 250 when starting during cold weather starter sticks to the run postion and ignition i can turn back and forth and truck will not shut off until starter burns out

IT sounds to me like the solenoid is sticking. Follow the large wire up from where it bolts onto stater and the next thing that wire is bolted to is the solenoid.

I smell antifreeze and my heater is blowing cold air in my 97 eclipse

Hey there,

Your heater core is done. In cold weather the inner windshield area directly under your defrost vents will begin to frost over, and actually ice over in really cold weather. That is because of the nasty stuff being released. The part itself is not that expensive, but the service is due to having to disassemble the whole dash. Do yourself a favor and.avoid turning the fan or heater on until you get it fixed. Toxic stuff.

03 eclipse making noises in cold weather

First you need to find the source that is causing noise. On cold weather is very normal engine belts or belts idle pulley bearings or belt tension-er to make noise, especially when they are old. Also power steering pump too especially if the oil is very old.

My 1991 Subaru Legacy won't go into gear

Does it go into gear ok when its not running? When its running does it grind when you try to put it in gear? Does clutch feel firm or soft when you push it in? If you can shift all gears when its not running then its a clutch problem. If you can't than its a transmission problem. Is it a hydrolic clutch or mechanical? I can only guess and i won't do that, i need this info to help you.

Clutch

i don't know if you went back to look at my post, but i fixed my car by putting in a new slave and new master cylinder and then tightening up the clutch petal. it does NOT grind anymore! and my baby is like new! it cost me about $90 through napa auto parts. $66 for the master and $16 for the slave and it comes with everything you need. hope this helps you!

I dont know where to put the oil for the gear box

Brake fluid is the same fluid you put in the clutch master cylinder. Any mechanic will verify this.
