Question about 2000 Chevrolet Metro

Front end noise in chevy metro

2000 chevy metro with 125K. Front brake pads replaced by shop (too cold outside), now thumping, wobbling noise in passenger side wheel. Worse when turning. Took about ten miles of driving to develop, got progressively worse. Could front end parts have been damaged in brake job? Possibility of worn parts failing after job? Odd situation.

You may want to check and make sure the lug nuts are tight before you drive it any further. If you paid them, after you check the lug nuts for security, I would definately take it back. They did something wrong.

Yes it is possible, it is possible the rotor was not turned properly and it is out of round but it is also possible the hub bearing on passenger side is going out also.you should lift car and ssee if wheel is flexing up and down and side to side

What could cause a thumping noise from the front end when turning at low speed?

sounds like wheel bearings-1st
but hopefully your front disc need turning, or replaced.
check wheel bearings by jacking up the front end "CAREFULLY" WITH
JACK STANDS & wiggle tires,if you get more than a 1/4'' slack on 1 or the other, than it's shot. Best to replace both sides. "GOOD LUCK'' &
BE CAREFULL.

I'm driving a 2000 Chrysler 300M. Had front brake pads & rotors changed 2 weeks ago. Front end has been noisy since & I suspect sticking calipers , as i was informed they did not get clean

The front calipers are not the problem...did a shop replace the pads and rotors? Or did a friend replace these parts. The Chrysler front pads and rotors are an excellent design...easy to service and replace parts...only 2 bolts hold on each caliper, and the rotor is held in place with the caliper, and wheel. My first thought was a front wheel bearing is grinding, but you should have noticed this before the brake parts change. The pads could be installed backwards also...my second thought was you may have a loose wheel or two...retighten all 5 lug nuts by using the "star" tightening method, you may be surprised that the loose lug nuts are the only problem. Hope this helps.

Front end making rattling, thumping noise when driving. Slowing of speed increases the noise.

i would 1st check out the front tires to make sure that they are not defective, if tires check out ok, then i would put the jeep on a rack at a garage, and check out all of the front end components, including c. v. joints and the wheel bearings.

Front end wobble, have replaced rotors & pads but still has a wobble.

Discribe your version of wobble. In steering wheel, front suspension? Did you have this checked out by a shop, who gave up on it? Are the brakes related?

My right front wheel wabbles and is wearing on the outside and it screeches a bit

Have a tire shop check for damaged or loose steering parts. The screech and the wobble might be 2 parts that have nothing to do with each other besides being on the same wheel. The screech could be from a brake pad indicator warning you it is time to change brake pads before more expensive problems develop.

There is a loud thumping noise coming front passenger side

Okay, I had a problem like this with my 1990 Jetta, except there was no thumping noise. My steering wheel started to shake, that also make the whole front end wobble back and forth (side to side) - I took to a mechanic and had both whell bearing replaced. I must tell you that wheel bearing aren't something a mechanic can just check to see if they're good; once they get in there, it's a matter of just putting new ones in. Now, while different makes and models vary as far as cost of repair, (as well as mechanics prices) I paid a mere $400 dollars for my Jetta, which is a foreign made care, which also tend to cost more to fix than American made cars. Regardless, this is what it sounds like may be the problem with your vehicle. You may want to take it to a shop that specializes in alignments and brakes. It could be a loose brake caliper in the front. My brother had a car that was doing that same things, so we took the (front right) tire of, and he was missing both bolts that hold the brake caliper in place. Notice if the car brakes normally or not and if the shake increases, decreases or stays the same. If and when you take it to a mechanic, be sure to give them as much full detail as to what the car is doing so they can diagnose the issue as best as they can. This will save you from spending money on any unecessary parts and labor.
