Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

1 Answer

My son has a 2002 Montero Sport. His front and rear windshield wipers stopped working. He bought the car used so he has no manual. Can you tell me where the fuse is for the front and back? Have tried to look at some of the diagrams online, but they don't seem to match up.

After you have checked all the fuses.
Please check the FUSE # 9 15amp. Is the fuse for the front wiper.
Behind left side of dash.
I'm watching the DIAGRAM for your wipers.
And I found. the relay, But is part of the Wiper Switch. on steering column.

With a Test light. check the BLUE wire for POWER 12V.
ON the wiper motor connector.

If yes try to hit softly with a metal piece.
With the wiper switch on. and ignition on.
If work you need to replace the wiper motor.
And letme know if work. or not.

OK> I hope this help on your problem.

SOURCE: 1990 Mitsubishi Montero: Rear windshield wiper not working

You need to remove the door panel of the taildoor to access the wiper motor itself. Then, with either a meter or a test light, you can verify that the motor is getting the correct power and ground to allow it to run. Most older Monteros are pretty easy to work on with regards to door panel trim removal. You need to have a panel removal tool to gently lift the trim panel away from the door itself. These tools are generally pretty generic ,and available at many better equipped auto parts stores. They're almost always a flat metal tool that's pretty thin, you use them like a putty knife or a gentle pry bar, slipping them behind the trim panel and gently prying a small section of the panel away from the metal door to release the hold of the plastic trim clips that attach the door trim panel to the door itself. These panel clips are usually arranged in a perimeter fashion around the back of the trim panel. You may need to also remove some screws or bolts that hold trim pieces to the door or a pull handle. Once you get all of the 'extra' parts removed from the door, then try removing the door panel with that removal tool, noting if any of the plastic clips break in the process.
Get the door panel off and we'll help you test the wiper motor next.

SOURCE: Hi! I drive a 1999

You would be better off just buying a new wiper motor, more often than not, the motor dies before any fuses would blow.

it could be the actual motor burnt out or siezed wich is causing the fuses to blow and the motor is under the bonet just below the windowscreen near the top vents.

The rear wiper has its own pump motor. pull the hose from the wiper and have someone engage to see if there is a clog. do the same at the motor. if bo liquid comes out then its the pump. also check fluid level in reservoir as well as a possible secondary reservoir

For the front, parallel to the left of the radiator, for the back, it could be like mine, open the back door and right next to the shut on the right of the frame, when ffacing into the inside, you will find the filling removable cap. for the rear fluid tank.

My windshield wipers don't work but the rear wipers and washer I need to replace the wiper motor? If so, where is it located and how do I replace it?

Check fuses, front and back wiper motors run on different fuses. Test for power and ground at front wiper motor wires. If you have power and ground there your wiper motor may be toast. Good luck

Have a 1985 Mitsubishi Montero sport with a 4 cyclinder/how can I tell what motor that is" Just bought it for a project. And it won't start. Previous owner took off disitributor cap/and front of motor

This vehicle only came with a 2.6 liter 4 cylinder. To verify this look on the dasboard through the windshield on the driver's side towards the bottom and you will see a long number. The 8th digit from left to right should be an "E". That means it is a 2.6 liter motor.Good luck
