The fuses that are in the "hood" are for engine controlled things such as air suspenion etc.

You should fine another fuse box on the drivers side Its probbly got some sort of trim coverring it. Its not directioly in the steering whell but to a left a bit!

My 1993 Lincoln Mark V111 won't start, won't even make a sound. The lights turn on but car won't.

Make sure the battery is strong enough to take a load, Ignition switch may be at fault, Check the starter wiring to make sure it is tight on the terminals, If you lightly tap on the starter while someone tries to start it, it may tell you the starter is worn out, but do this safely.

Engine wont stay running

you're running rich, the cylinders get flooded with fuel and won't fire. stepping on the gas blows out the excess fuel. take it to the dealer and have the mixture adjusted.

1994 lincoln mark V111

You may have a bad battery cable or a loose one, check them, also check the connector to the Alternator for possiable burned contacts, one thing is for sure you are discribing a low system voltage condition, this will strand you very soon unless you get to the bottom of the problem and fix it.

97 Lincoln Mark VIII / Something killing the battery

If the alternator you installed was rebuilt, it may not have been right from the beginning.
There are high powered diodes used in them to rectify the alternating voltage produced to supply the DC the car needs.
These can fail quickly and without warning.
It is possible that a defective battery could cause this failure so a shorted battery could have caused both the original and replacement alternator to fail.
If you are in the US, you can visit about any of the chain auto parts stores and they will test your alternator free of charge but call first to check if your local store offers this.

If the regulator for the alternator is separate; some are, some aren't, this should also be tested if separate and is not that costly to replace.
