Question about Cars & Trucks
Could be a number of things, but I would start with the solenoid. This is located on the passenger side and attaches to the transfer case (about 3" in diameter and 8" long). This solenoid is powered from the push button on your dash and engages the 4x4 system. If you are getting power to the solenoid then verify the solenoid works. If this is okay, then it will be a mechanical problem inside the transfer case. Hopefully it is just the solenoid or power to the solenoid. If you are not getting power, it could be a fuse, wiring, or bad push button.

The gas gauge is part of the fuel pump assembly. I just replaced mine on 2X4 same truck. New assembly from GM is $500, $275 from Auto Zone. If inclined to do yourself, you can tilt bed up in drivers side. See other posts about changing fuel pump.
