Question about 1996 Jaguar Vanden Plas

My 96 is only warming up a 3rd of normal operating tempature. To much antifreeze or not enough water, its been doing this for a while but now its in the low thirtys whats going on.

Chances are, you need a new thermosat. This is a typical indication of an old or bad one

Assuming you have no visible leeks I would add neat antifreeze for the correct frost protection you want then top up with water, run the engine with the heater on and allow the engine to reach running tempature before checking coolant level some systems have bleed screws in upper parts of hoses to vent air you may need to do this while the engine is coming to tempature or the water will not circulate fully if the heater puts out warm /hot air you know it has reached the metrix of the heater. Allow to cool before removing radiator cap and check level this can be done by squeezing the upper radiator hose and see the water move in resavoir, take care don't rush may need several bleeds.

My 99 GMC sonoma with a 2.2L is not warming up properly


Possibly plugged or inerporable heater core. Possibly heater core valve (this diverts hot air through your heater system) When you flushed the block, was there a lot of contaminant? 95% of the time, cold heat means thermostat. Also there are a lot of really cheap after market thermostats, you can buy one as low as $6.00. That being said, just because a thermo is new doesn't necessarily mean it opens/shuts when it should. You can look on You Tube on how to test one in your kitchen with boiling water,.

So three basic things affect interior heat temps. Thermostat, plugged heater core/.valve, and insufficient coolant or liquid to tranfser heat. If your interior coolant (engine temp) is working normally and your vehicle reaches operating tempature according to the needle, your thermosat is probably not the cause.

My bet is somehow, your heater core is plugged so that their is not enough "flow"

No heat


You could have to much coolant. Pure antifreeze coolant is designed to be mixed with water to work effectively. You could also have a bad or clogged heater core. Are a thermostat that is stuck open causing the coolant system to just flow coolant straight through the engine block, heater core, and radiator without stopping long enough to warm up and provide cab heat. Certain sensor depend on normal engine operating tempatures to work properly. Hope this helps.

I have a 96 chevy tahoe 5.7 vortec and it had a small knock in it so we put in a new crankshaft,main bearings,rod bearings,timing chain,timing cover and all seals and gaskets now the truck misses on number...


Oh man that's a tough one. It almost sounds like a bad head, however there is an electronic spark control mounted to the firewall, that could possibly be doing it. If it is fuel injected, check your injectors. Something else to check would be the fuel pressure regulator. I'll have to think more on it, because you have replaced so much. Have you checked for trouble codes? The throttle position sensor can cause some of your symptoms. Hope this helps, but I think you might have a faulty esc control (electronic spark control)

I just bought a 1994 Subaru Loyale, the heat is not very hot. The fan blows but the air is warm not hot. The previous owner told me when he replaced the water pump he also put a new 195 degree...


very important to have proper coolant solution.50/50..too much antifreeze will make heater act up.antifreeze tester will eliminate that.warm engine and check both heater hose if they are the same tempature.if not remove both hoses and garden hose through the
heater core to flush both ways.try not to disturb the heat core and remove hoses where they connect to the engine.let me know if that helps

My temperature guage needle barely moves off Cold and the heater doesnt get very warm. I have enough water and antifreeze in it, do I need a thermostat. Its a 2000 Ford Contour


Itsounds like you need to change the thermostat to one that opens at a lower tempature or the one you have may ot be working correctly

My temperature gage is going over in the red and my heat is not


Check the sensor which controls the cooling fans that cools the radiator it prevents the engine from over heating and allows the temp gauge to stay at normal range.recently had problems with my 2003 impala overheating it was the sensor had the thermostat replace as well.

2000 Chevy Venture not blowing any heat but engine is overheating. Could it be my water pump?


I would highly suspect the thermostat, cost is about $12 for the part and some anti freeze. Good luck

How do you know if your engine is overheating? the coolant says 210 degrees wut do i do


When your engine is operating normally, the temp on the gauge should be between 190 and 225. The thermostat is set to open at 190 and this controls minimum engine temp. If you sit in traffic the temp will climb to 225 and then the cooling fan will begin to operate to make sure that you don't overheat.You know that water boils at 212 but you have to add 10 degrees for every pound of pressure the rad cap is set to. Also your coolant has antifreeze in it which raises the boiling point even more. A normal overheat condition of your engine would be 300 or more. Does this help?
