Question about 2001 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

2001 Nissan Altima - Seat Back stuck in the recline position.

The seat motor is operating only to recline the seat. It's not raising the seat. Could it be a switch problem?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

yes, It could bethe power seat switches are known to go out. The switch to move the seat forward and back on mine went out. replaced it with $10 rocker switch.

Where does one get a rocker switch and was it difficult to install?

. No it is a manual handle on the side of the seat you pull up on and the seat should adjust. It is stripped out cannot move the top part of the passenger side seat forward or recline positions

I have a 2009 Nissan Altima that is stuck in the reclined position. Any ideas on how to fix this or what to try before the dealership looks at it?

if the seats are electronically controlled check for a blown fuse or listen for the drive motor if you hear it then it may have strip the teeth on the drive gear. if no then the motor may have failed best bet a second hand seat from a dismantler or recycler in good working condition may be cheaper than the dealer to replace

Drivers side seat is reclined and seat won't go forward

That would be listed in the owners manual. If you don't have one go here and download it.

Rear seat belt is stuck in recline position. I recline the rear seat to make room and I can not raise the seat back up. The seat belt is not allowing the seat to raise

The problem:
The set belt stop has been lost so the seat belt retracts too far when the seat is laid flat. When laid flat the release mechanism lock as it should when not level. So the seat cannot be raised up as the belt is too tight and locked.
The Solution:
1) Push the two little clips to release and remove the headrests.
Pull the grey lever on the right of the seat base, lift seat base up and forward toward the front seat..
2) See two red capped leversat the back of the two seat hinges and lever them to the upward position, this releases the seat.
Rock the very heavy seat unit upwards and lift complete unit upwards.
3) Take it out of the car and turn 180% so that the back of the seat and base are in the upward position and the seat belt will pull out as it should
4) Replace the missing belt locking stop (I used a tie pin permanently fixed using super glue).
5) Fold seat back down and test then either re-fit seat unit or leave out to decrease fuel consumption.. 2_5_2014_8_03_56_pm.jpg 5f6d2b58-2927-4184-9c82-d111e3a9591a.jpg e9f641fc-5fbc-4c21-a371-ff371d942b1a.jpg a357ac71-d6ed-4dc7-999c-04367d3d6e72.jpg

The recline on my power seat stopped working

I just bought a 2005 Nissan Altima that had the same problem. The motor was fine. I opened the switch and found that a trace on the small circuit board was cut/missing. I soldered it on the spot and it solved the problem. You can access the switch by carefully prying off the switch buttons, then the plate. There are two screws that must be removed so that you can pull the switch assembly out of the seat.

Front seat locked in recline,

I just bought a 2005 Nissan Altima that had the same problem. You really can't bring the seat back up without removing the motor and manually turning the metal rod. The motor in my case was fine. I opened the switch and found that a trace on the small circuit board was cut/missing. I soldered it on the spot and it solved the problem. You can access the switch by carefully prying off the switch buttons, then the plate. There are two screws that must be removed so that you can pull the switch assembly out of the seat.

Veracruz driver seat

Hi tlocker,

Sorry to tell you, but if we're talking about an electrically operated seat, there's no short cut....The seat will have to be removed and then you'll have to sort out why the motor reversal does not work....Could be a bad connection..... If it's a manual operation then you'll have to find out where its stuck....

Front seat stays in the reclined postion..

The seat position is changed through the use of a cable that runs through a flexible tunnel, under the seat. In one case that I'm aware of, this cable got stuck around a projecting seat spring under the seat. When the seat was reclined and moved backward or forward, the cable caught on the seat spring and the seat had insufficient slack in the cable to release from the reclined position.
