Question about 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

1 Answer

Looking for a pigtail connector for crankshaft sensor on a 2005 crossfire.

Car stalls while driving. Sometimes it will start and sometimes it won't. Changed sensor but that's not the problem. If I move the wire on the plug car will start. While car is running if wire is moved car will stall. T

You will need to match this up, you can see if the dealer sells this but most times they say you need to wire harness . what i do is match it up and then try to cross to an earlier year and even a different sensor.let me see what i can find here....well hate to say this but you are in for a haul, this is a problem with the connector and is sold as a wiring harness. they sell just about every other connector but that one, i think junk yard or try the web and see if someone has a harness they will sell or cut connector off, sorry.

My thought is to get a refund from the shop that tried to replace parts in order to secure your problem. The job of the shop is to diagnose the problem, not to replace items that may be the problem. Chrysler Master Techs are not trained to just replace parts, they fix the problem by diagnosing it properly.

You need to see a Chrysler dealership so they can attach a DRBIII and tell you exactly what is at stake.

I hope this helps you. I would be mad as heck.

I would not think the plugs and wires would be the problem because they would all have to fail at the same time to provide the symptom you experienced.

1. Get your money back
2. DRBIII

SOURCE: The car starts OK. When driving, sometimes the engine stalls and suddenly starts again and starts accelerating at the same time.

Before you tear apart and replace the whole car like I did, you have THREE converters on that car. The front two are part of the y-pipe and one on center pipe. Vacuum check when hot or look under it in the dark after running about twenty minutes, any glowing red in converter. you need to clean or replace. vinegar and distilled water soaking, it can be done, will help clean the y-pipe one, the other is 75 bucks aftermarket and worth the change.

Charging system, Replace the alernator it shorting out. In order for a alternator to work the rotor create a magnetic flux this flux is what gives the battery it charge. In order to creat this flux which is a A/C current it needs to be a D/C current there in place is a wheatstone bridge or a half wave rectifier. now why the light show? light bulds do not know the difference from A/C to D/C .power is power to it. replace alternator.

I have a 2005 crossfire as well and it did the exact thing. Finally took it to a Mercedes shop and they found one of the crystals were cracked on my rely, it sits under the hood on the side of the wheel well. It's a black box. The only way they found the cracked crystal was with a magnifier glass. Not cheap by the way, but have had no further problems since that was done..

Only Sparks at plugs 2 or 3 sparks on initial crank the spark stops. Sometimes if i crank long enough it will spark a few more times then stop. What would cause this.

There should be a crankshaft sensor around the crankshaft. Go to a parts site like Autozone or similar and look at the pictures. It will give you an idea about what you are looking for.

If you can at least see what you are looking for, the problem may be a corroded connector from the part to the wiring pigtail.

You could also have a bad Relay for the ignition(EEC). Little strange because symptoms of Hot, failing Relay include power disengagement when unit warms up. Strange because it alone does not explain only 2 or 4 cylinders working. That part of problem can be crankshaft sensor.

2004 crossfire engine dies at speed

Hello Paul, You stated your crossfire stalls and the usually restarts. It could be several things that cause this... If the check engine light is on, have it scanned to determine what caused it to come on - It sounds like you are having an intermittent crankshaft position sensor failure. I hope this information is helpful...Happy Holidays.

It turns out that the fuel pump relay is the problem and that this (per chrysler) is a common problem with the crossfire.

Periodically the crossfire won't start.

This sounds like one of those interesting problems. What you are going to have to do is find a light bulb type of electrical tester, and a schematic for the wiring on the car (or get a mechanic to do it). When the problem comes up again, you have to find where the power to the module is not coming through a weak connection. It is something that warms up and then breaks connection.
The first thing to do is change the fuses for the engine controls. Fuses are cheap and sometimes they develop a crack that opens when they see a rise in temperature from a heavy electrical load or warm or cold weather changes. Other things that cause problems are the wires that connect to the battery, and splices in those wires which are usually hidden inside a bundle of wires. Also inspect the connectors that hook up to the engine module and make sure the pins are not pulling out from tension in the wires and other defects.
You said it doesn't turn over, so also check the connections at the starter. Sometimes main power is routed through there.
