2004 vw golf 5 2.0 fsi camshaft sensor , is there any special position for this or is it a remove and install procedure ! Any help is much appreciated thanks!

If there are no adjustments to be made on the mount, there is nothing to do except mount it as it fits!

when you are looking at the engine pull off the plastic cover on top then the front cover that covers you timing belt there is a wire harness tha goes right to it in the left upper coner two ten mil bolts and it comes off careful not to drop bolts down in belt that could be bad. it is that easy

SOURCE: how do i time camshaft position sensor in 1996

most part stores have the tool just tell them you need the cam sync tool for your 3.0 v6 ranger. this tool attaches to top of cam sync, put the motor at tdc by pulling the #1 out and turning it till you on comp stroke and look at crank mark then drop in new sync with tool on it set it bolt down the take tool off install sensor and plug in. if you get it wrong and the check eng light is on just redo but with the tool it is easy . and then there is the i have no choice way you take then sensor off the cam sync then make your marks take a pic of the thing and reinstall new one to the same mark dont worry about tdc or anything this way you just pull out and put in same way just make sure its in same place take a dig pic and mark it real good

How do i replace the camshaft position sensor

On 2001-2005 vehicles the camshaft position sensor is mounted at the rear of the cylinder head. On 2006 vehicles, the camshaft position sensor is located on top of the engine, on the engine head cover.

Testing 2001-2003
  1. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector.
  2. Start the engine. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature.
  3. Monitor the CMPS signal. It should continuously fluctuate between 0-5 volts.
  4. If abnormality is found, replace the sensor.

Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the connector from the sensor.
  3. Remove the bolt that retains the sensor.
  4. Remove the sensor.
To install:
  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Vw golf se fsi 2006 30,000 miles. exhaust warning light on

If it is the 1.6 FSI model, it is very sensitive to the type of gasoline, it should be octane 97 or higher.
Very commonly, owners of this model use the 95 Octane gasoline, which seems to work ok, but the sensors in the exhaust (yellow motorwarning light) will eventually (can take a few years) clog up and you cant clean it or change the sensor easy either as you need to remove the whole exhaust system.

So either you let VW fix this for you (expensive) or you do it yourself (need a decent garage, equipment and a new sensor).

2000 ford tauras,auto,84k miles, small v6, missing between 45 & 55 mph. Under & over no missing noticed. spark plugs changed @ 70k. Original wire and sensors; as shop said very good. Suggestions...

Sounds like it could be a cam position sensor.

1993 ford taurus, replaced all starting and charging componets still no spark to plugs. Checked all fuses and all fusible links. Replaced key switch, ignition switch,neutral safty...

The camshaft position sensor sends a signal to the PCM, powertrain control module. The PCM then determines spark plug firing. Could be the camshaft position sensor.

1996 is all I have
Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 3.0L (2V) Engine
The camshaft position sensor (CMP sensor) (12126):
  • is a single Hall-effect magnetic switch activated by a single vane which is driven by the camshaft (6250).
  • provides camshaft position information which is used by the ignition coil (12029) and the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) for fuel synchronization.
3.0L (4V) Engine
The camshaft position sensor (CMP sensor) (6B288) is:
  • a variable reluctance sensor.
  • triggered by the high-point mark on the LH exhaust camshaft sprocket (6256).

Removal
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring connector from camshaft position sensor.
  1. Remove camshaft position sensor retaining screws and camshaft position sensor from camshaft position sensor housing.
  1. If removing camshaft position sensor housing from the cylinder block (6010), proceed with Removal Step 5. If not removing camshaft position sensor housing, proceed to installation Step 6.
  1. Remove hold-down clamp (bolt and washer assembly).
  1. Remove camshaft position sensor housing from cylinder block.
Installation

    Attach Syncro Positioning Tool T95T-12200-A as follows:
    1. Engage camshaft position sensor housing vane into the radial slot of the tool.
    1. Rotate tool on camshaft position sensor housing until tool boss engages notch in camshaft position sensor housing.
  1. Pre-lubricate synchronizer gear with engine oil meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C123-A prior to assembly.
  1. Install camshaft position sensor housing so that drive gear engagement occurs when arrow on locator tool is pointed approximately 75 degrees counterclockwise from the rear face of the cylinder block. This step will locate camshaft position sensor electrical connector in the pre-removal position.
  1. Roatate Syncro Positioning Tool T95T-12200-A clockwise slightly. This will engage oil pump intermediate shaft. Push downward while adjusting Syncro Positioning Tool T95T-12200-A until the Syncro Gear engages the camshaft gear.
  1. When synchronizer flange is fully seated against block, the installation tool should be facing counterclockwise of engine centerline approximately 33 to 45 degrees.
  1. Install hold-down clamp (washer and bolt) and tighten bolt to 19-30 Nm (14-22 lb-ft).
  1. Remove Syncro Positioning Tool T95T-12200-A.
  1. sth~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: If camshaft position sensor electrical connector is not positioned properly, DO NOT reposition the connector by rotating the camshaft position sensor housing. This will result in the fuel system being out of time with the engine, possibly causing engine damage.     Install camshaft position sensor and retaining screws. Tighten screws to 1.5-4.0 Nm (13-35 lb-in).

Cant find cam sensor in 2004 dodge stratus r/t

2.0L 2.4L it is on The BACK OF the Cylinder Head REMOVAL
The camshaft position sensor is mounted to the rear of the cylinder head.

  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the PCV hose and reposition.
    1. Disconnect electrical connectors from the camshaft position sensor.
    2. Remove camshaft position sensor mounting screws. Remove sensor.
      1. Loosen screw attaching target magnet to rear of camshaft and remove magnet.
      INSTALLATION
      The target magnet has locating dowels that fit into machined locating holes in the end of the camshaft.

      1. Install target magnet in end of camshaft. Tighten mounting screw to 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) torque. Over torqueing could cause cracks in magnet. If magnet cracks replace it.
      2. Install camshaft position sensor. Tighten sensor mounting screws to 12.9 Nm (115 in. lbs.) torque.
      3. Carefully attach electrical connector to camshaft position sensor. Installation at an angle may damage the sensor pins.
      4. Connect the PCV Valve hose.
      5. Connect the negative battery cable.
2.7L V6
REMOVAL
The camshaft position sensor is mounted in the front of the head.
  1. Disconnect electrical connector from sensor.
  2. Remove camshaft position sensor screw.
CAM Sensor Location 2.7L
  1. Without pulling on the connector, pull the sensor out of the chain case cover.
INSTALLATION
The camshaft position sensor is mounted in the front of the head.

  1. Install sensor in the chain case cover and push sensor in until contact is made with the boss on the head. While holding the sensor in this position,install and tighten the retaining bolt to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) torque.
  2. Attach electrical connector to sensor.
