If its the original Delco battery from GM, it may be from the lot of batteries that had defects in one of the cells. GM was reimbursing consumers who bought autos with the defective batteries but im not sure if they still are. if its an after market or replacement battery, check if the battery acid level is full and top off with distilled water if its low. however, the cell may be dead if the fluid level has been low for a while and you will need to replace the battery. also, a battery that isnt secured well will cause problems too. if all is good with the battery, its probably a problem with your charging system. ie. alternator, relay, etc. that can be checked by a repair shop.

Why wouldn't it start/restart?

When you got the jump start, you were able to drive while the alternator tried to charge the dead battery. After you stopped at the other end, the battery died completely and may have shorted internally, which explains why your vehicle could not be jump started again. Obviously, that very dead battery will havet o be replaced.

Battery keeps dying

I would recommend getting a new battery and testing the battery with a multimeter. as for the speedo it may be a stuck needle or a kinked line/ dirty connection. the speedo usually connects to the side of the transmission

Car died while driving. The battery is new but the engine will not turnover when trying to start.

So why was the battery replaced? Could it be that your battery was dead because your charging is not working? I would recommend properly testing your charging system to find out why your new battery is now dead. Possible failed alternator or loose or corroded battery cables, or both.

Battery keeps draining

if your battery died while driving and the car cut off while your driving,, your problem is from your alternator!!!,, on a normal working car, you can start, remove ther battery terminals and the car would still run cause the alternator will be powering the car. In your case the alternator isnt working and the car was working on battery power therefore when the battery went dead the car cut off.. Your alternator need \s to be charging between 13.5 and 14.2 volts.. as little as 10 volts will keep the vehicle running.. I'd suggest you have the alternator replaced.

All gauges went dead while driving, lights progressively dimmed and finally engine quit.

Your alternator died. You drove until your battery died also. You need a new alternator and a new battery. You might be able to get away with just charging your battery. Do Not jump start the vehicle and let the new alternator try to charge the old battery! Take the battery to a service station for testing and a charge. Install the new alternator and then install the charged battery not vice versa and you'll be fine.
