Question about 1992 Plymouth Acclaim

Timming the engine corractly!

We had to change the water pump. And every since then my car wil not run properly. Does anyone know how to do this, so I don't have to put it in the shop! I don't have any money to put it in a shop. I can get a timming light, but I really need to know how to do it from start to finish. I do have a chilton's repair manual, but it says nothing about how to time the engine.

My '92 Acclaim will not turn over. Last year I had the water pump replaced and do not see anything on the work order where the timing was adjusted afterwards. Now the car won't start and acts like it is
    1) out of gas
    2) the timing is off/ it tries to start and diesels.

Check the condition of the drive belt before worrying about the timing check out all of the vacuum lines to make sure none of those got knocked off while installing the pump

My car won't start I have changed the coil fuel pump fuel pump relay and the Mfi relay I now think its the crank shaft relay but I do not know help me !

Sounds like maybe the main computer is bad. When you cranked the engine there is not any indication that it is firing. If you have changed the fuel pump and coil and it still wont even fire, the computer is most likely the cause. Even if the timming was off you would still get some indication that it was trying to start although it probably would not if the timming was off, but the fact it's not even trying to fire yeah that's my take.

I have squealing when the engine is hot or been city driving for a while. the coolant level is fairly good, have had to add some a few times over the last couple months. was told to try some water pump...

make sure the belts are tighten and inspect the pulleys to make sure that they are not wobbling, if the engine is overheating then that's a different problem all together. Tim

I have a 2003 pontiac grandam with a intake gasket leak. I am planning to have it fixed but i have advised to change the water pump also. I am having no water pump problems is that advisable to do.

CHANGE WATER PUMP WILL SAVE YOU SOME MONEY, TO CHANGE INTAKE GASKET HAVE TO DISAMBLE PART OF YOUR ENGINE , AND IF YOU NEVER HAVE CHANGED YOUR WATER PUMP IT WIL PREBENT FUTURE PROBLEMS. BUT DOESN'T MEANS THAT YOU NEED TO CHANGE WATER PUMP.

CHANGED WATER PUMP NOW THE TRUCK DON'T WANT TO TURN OVER?

Did you disconnect/reconnect battery? Do you have power? Are all the drive belts properly routed and tightened? Is coolant/water levels full? How bad did the truck overheat before you changed the water pump? If the truck was running fine before you changed the water pump, then double check that you properly reinstalled and reconnected all components you removed to gain access to the pump. Make sure your battery connections are secure and properly charged. If you didn't disconnect the battery when replacing pump, it's a possibility at some point you could have shorted the battery to ground and blew a fuse. Check all of your main fuses, then check all other fuses.

Otherwise, even if you installed a bad water pump, it has nothing to do with truck turning over. The only possibilities are that engine froze before changing pump, drive belts not properly reinstalled/secured, components not properly reinstalled or connected, or battery shorted and blew a fuse, or fuses. Let me know how it goes.

Coolant in the block, it is either head gasket or water pump. I think it is the water pump , how far down do you have to go to get at the water pump on a 2.7litre

I dont know how you learnt about engines but if some ones been telling you about it then there up the creek,as
COOLANT has to be in the block and in the heads and in the heater as its a water cooled engine. BUT if you mean the water is in were the oil is then you have got a problem like either a cracked head/or a blown head gasket/ a cracked block /or just a lnlet manifold water jacket gasket or cracked , But tell me has the engine overheated in the past 4 days of driving/has the engine lost a lot of coolant/has the engine been running rough??????????????? if yes to any of these then changing the water pump isent going to do anything for you except waste your money as water pumps have to have a bad groaning noise and loss of water running out of the front of engine going or not .
BUT wont put water in the oil ..
So let me know what the answers are as soon as poss so we can see if we can fix your car. Ron

The problem is else where, they have enclosed t/chain,the belt drives the water pump, altinator, power steering etc.,The engine should be checked by a professional for other problems, should not be driven or run without the drive belt in place.
