Question about 1996 Ford Taurus
The "SHOTGUN FIX will never tell tou Where the leak IS if it stops the leak. Timing cover, andValve Cover Gaskets ARE NOT PART OF the COOLING System. They BOTH have to do with holding the OIL at bay ONLY. Now Drippind on top of converter Passenger Side Right? 1996 Ford Taurus
Correct/ ok then Sees to me that if you had it at a Mechanic He Would find the Leak thats Here nor there.. The only Place thal Coolant Wil Leak from is OBVIOUSLT where Coolant is, Now From that side of Engine you have Heater House and the Heater Core. Heater Core IF LEAKING SLOWLY Will Drip From Same Place as the AIR Condisioner Drips Water From. I Sugest you try A New Mechanic
Because What These Mechanics are telling you is TOTALY INCORRECT,and the only Reason I wouls think they would do this is BECAUSE A Timing Cover Job will Pay them HUNDREDS MORE Than A SIMPLE HOSE I dont usualy do this But Call Me at 317-828-8093 name is Ronnie

Check the 2 large hoses that come from the radiator, at the radiator and at the engine. if not there then your losing water into your engine, probably means your head gasket is cracked and about to blow
