The engine will match up but the sensor plugs may not so you may have to swap the sensors between the engines.

Where is it located

Hi Maxine, The control is located as an integral part of the Electronic Control Unit (the computer) The sensors which send information to the ECU to control the spark are the crankshaft pickup sensor, the camshaft pickup sensor, the knock sensor, the mass air flow sensor and throttle sensor. Tell us what the problem is and we may be able to help you? Regards John

PO102 and PO340 on 1997 GMC Jimmy

PO102 = mass airflow circuit low. Means there's a problem with the mass airflow sensor or circuit. Could be the sensor is disconnected, dirty, or faulty. PO340 = camshaft position sensor circuit. Could be ground wire disconnection, camshaft position sensor failed, PCM is failing, or even the crankshaft position sensor has failed. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

97 GMC JIMMY OIL PRESSURE DROPS WHEN STOPPED

This is usually caused by wear on the main bearings. To be sure it is actually dropping need to check with a manual gauge if so you can replace the main crankshaft bearings and while in there replace oil pump as you will have it off.
