SOURCE: inhibitor switch
eh , Automatic transaxel Range (TR) switch , can also be referred to as the Inhibitor Switch , personally i would call it the neutral safety switch , anyway you can find the "inhibitor" switch on top left side of transaxel , it goes over the shifter shaft coming out of the trans where the shifter cable bolts onto . Looks like a 1/4 of a circle . cheers mate

It is only a four bolt sistem to change after the brake *** is removed. U may also have to remove the upper and lower control arms.

take out all the screws in the door handles etc, slide the chrome suround forwards on the interior doorpull and remove.then, very carefully prise off the inner door panel(use a Y tool for the clips,or a wide screwdiver..you will break some) with the window up,you will be able to see a wire hanging down from the outside handle,it is the clip that holds this on that is broken(very common)if the clip is okay then you will have to see what else is needed.but it will be obvious.

SOURCE: Hi,I have a Kia Carens
About the only thing you can do is get under there with a light and supported on jacks and blocked up, have someone put the tranny through the gears, without it running of course, visually check the linkage and make sure nothing is getting hung up. I slammed a car into reverse once, It went into second but the linkage was in reverse, I had to tow it and get it figured out, learned a lesson that day. Another thing that could have happened is the pressure plate has snapped in half on you, rare, but it happens, especially when new. It will be stuck in gear alright, and it won't shift, or clutch. Check it out, hope this helps.
