I have this problem. The dealer told me that a module that costs $220 needed to be replaced. Controls work fine - just no lights. I'd like a less expensive fix.

I just bought a used 2005 Grand Cherokee and after driving at night noticed the same problem. I brought it back to the dealer and they said that their were no lights for those controls for that year. Does anyone know if this is correct? It doesn't make sense to me. I never heard of a car not having knob lights.

I, too, just bought an '05 RM Ed.and thought that it was odd that the fan, temp and vent knobs in no way illuminated. At the very least I thought that the knob position "marker" would light up. I'm not expecting that the actual positions light up - they are clearly just printed on the console - but I think the knobs should light up.

I stopped at the dealer this morning to ask and they told me, after looking at a similar model, that they don't. Only on a Limited, or so they said. I'm still not convinced.

Also, By the way, my new module that was replaced today does work and all the lights light up on the climate controls not just the knobs. They do look like they are painted on, but the entire controls light up as well. That's how they fooled me at first is stating that the controls are just painted on. On the new module that lights up, they look like they are painted on as well, but they also light up.

Purchased a 2005 Jeep GC laredo Brand new. Over the last few months Ive noticed that little by little the lights on my climate control have been going out. Now there are none. So yes, the controls did have lights and the units are obviously ****. Just dont think I wanna pay $200 to fix it. By the way, it is pathetic how many small problems Ive had with this vehicle. Never again will I buy a Chrysler product. I even needed to get the software on my Jeep "reflashed" to re-teach the sunroof how to close itself because it was leaking water whenever I went through the car wash. $ 200 for that. Unbelievable.

Petterml you're absolutely right. My dealer just changed my module. But it wasn't without some leg work. After consulting another Jeep Service Center I had my proof and had to push hard to get the dealer to replace the console. Found out that this module has had a few modifications which lends to the theory that they've had issues with this.

Nope. ME. For all I know the 2nd Jeep was in for the same issue. But I really think that the real issue was that they didn't appear to illuminate in the bright sunlight and an apathetic tech.

They tried to hit me with a $100 deductible. I emailed the president of the dealership and they waived the fee.

After showing the dealership this site and the problems that others have had. I insisted that they take a look at it and solve the problem. FINALLY, they admitted that there are lights and that basically it is a pain to fix because they need to order a new module. After one day in the shop, I now have lights for the climate controls in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Do not let them tell you that it only is an option with the Limited. It is just flat out FALSE. I was so frustrated with my dealership because this is shady if you ask me, but they did fix it free of charge. Do your research, call JEEP themselves, and provide the dealership with facts and they should fix it. It's ridiculous how much work I had to do to get them to admit that the Laredo also had the option, but it failed. Don't back down!!!!!!!

Just out of curiousity you don't live in WI do you? I know that the dealership that I purchased my Jeep from had another one that did not work as well and they initially used that to prove their point that that model did not come with the feature which is why I ask.

Fan control knob on a/c and heater will only run on high speed. 2003 dodge mini van

I replaced the fan module under the glovebox on my 2005 Town & Country last night. Mine would not shut off at all with key on. It only blew on high no matter where I set the switch. Mine also had the climate control which makes a difference. If it is not the auto climate control it is usually the blower resistor if the other fan speed selections don't blow at all except on high.

No light behind the heating and air conditioning controls

is it a manual or auto climate system ?? I don"t remember the auto deal but..... if manual- set the fan speed to #2 position and pull the knob straight off. It might put up a fight and you might have to use both hands... no joke. When the knob is off you'll see the little bugger, it might have simply fell outta the socket

Dual climate problem for 2005 cherokee limited

a common problem ( mine did it too ) is the blower control relay, under the glove box and behind. it requires taking out the glove box, buying a relay and installing it. unfortunately, the relay often cooks the incoming wire harness, requiring cutting those wires and putting cut wires into new harness. check with www.wjjeeps.com for details.

2001 Jetta Interior Climate Control Bulb

There is one bulb (for all three knobs) behind the center knob. Turn the knob to the straight up and down 12 o'clock position and pull the knob straight out. Wrap a soft cloth around the jaws of a pliers, that works the best. Pull the bulb out with a needle nose wrapped with a rubber band. The bulb is a sylvania 2721, available at most auto parts stores. You can also use a small piece of vacuum tubing to pull the bulb out. (pull straight out, don't twist it)

Heat/AC Blower fan speed only works on High

Alot of people have the same problem with the fan switch and blown bulbs. There really is no fix for this. Jeep really screwed up when designing the heater control assembly. The cheapest solution is to buy another unit off Ebay. Can always go to the dealer but be ready to PAY for there mistakes.
