It is WINTER time. Cold Freezing Condensing water turns to ice on metal parts...TRy opening up the boot that covers the shifter and spray CRC or WD40 into the metal parts. Move the shift back and forth to free up the surfaces and reassemble...If it is still a bit stiff you will need to go under the car to lubricate the linkages below!

your problem lies in the internal parts of your transmission which are the clutch linings, they are already worn out and starts to slide.

First you should check the fluid levels of your transmission fluid. The fluid can be low and need a little added to it, but check the level first.

SOURCE: when I put my gear into Reverse, Netrual and Drive the gear is getting stiff to move. Why is this happening?

If you mean the shifter is getting hard to move, its probably the shift linkage sticking, try a couple squirts of pblaster or other penetrating oil. If the motion of the vehicle is getting hard to drive in reverse and drive the torque converter may be the issue.

SOURCE: 2003 Mitsubishi Montero (Not Sport) vehicle won't engage.

You most likely have a failed transmission and it will need to be removed and rebuilt or replaced with a remanufactured unit.

Automatic not changing gears

check the shifter mechanism for binding up and not moving freely into positions. Not starting in park but in neutral indicates something is out of alignment with the shifter. May just need cleaning and a bit of oil/grease to fix.

Has Coke or anything that goes sticky been spit around gear shift? I have had this before & had to pull console apart & clean with spray & wipe.

Shopping in the Mall the trasmission dont change. I select drive, reverse , L1 but nothing pass. Well i call the towing service. Its possible the problem is a relay or damage cable? The model is...

the shifter cable may have worked loose or broken. do you feel the same resistance that you used to when shifting? or just a very loose floppy shifter,if so,i suggest a broken or loose shifter cable.thank you for choosing fixya.com and by the way no relay will keep your shifter from shifting gears from park to drive, reverse.
