Most likely what has happened is that when the thermostat went out the engine over heated and the seal of the valve gaskets to the plastic valve covers got warped and you ahve oil the has dumped into the coil pack area and it has caused 1 or more of the coil packs to go bad as solution #1 has explained. get the gaskets replaced, it sounds like your husband is handy. Its not a difficult procedure just a little time consuming. research the coil packs because at the dealership they are very expensive. People have had alot of good luck buying them on ebay.

I had the same miss without the overheat on my 00LS. It so happened the coil packs on the plugs were saturated with oil and ruined the coil packs. The Lincoln garage told me the valve cover pan gaskets were pron to leak after a while and would need replaced. I had the gaskets replaced on one side along with any oil damaged coil packs. I never experienced any miss at high speed, only below 45 mph and acceleration.
Just some actual experience,
Bruce

Have him to look for vacuum lines they may not be off but they could have a hole in them and also if the car as over 40,000 miles have him to change the drive belt and also put some STP in the gas tank make sure you have at least a half a tank of gas and if this helps with the problem have him change the fuel filter

should be able to get to it with a flex-socket,unless it's best for you to remove whatever is in the way (try first with a flex-socket and extension. MAKE SURE YOU HAND START THE BOLTS TO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T CROSS-THREAD AND TIGHTEN EVENLY AS TO PREVENT BREAKING THE NEW PIECE.

I have a 2000 lincoln ls v8 and I seen there was a leak in front on driver side near the fender. Then when I started to drive my light came on that said check engine temperature. What could be the...

Sound like a coolant (antifreeze) leak. This leak could be anywhere, including the heater core which could be expensive to fix. Check the coolant level when the engine is cold to see if it is low. Don't drive with missing coolant as you may destroy your engine.

Where is the thermostat on a 2000 lincoln ls

On a V6 driver side front of engine in hose assy,
in front of power steering pump

On a V8 behind the Throttle Body, hard to miss that one,
the radiator hose goes to it.

My 2000 Lincoln LS V8 is overheating. I've replaced the thermostat and the fan is working properly. Water pump is fine too. Any other causes that I am missing?

Sometimes a vacuum leak can cause the engine to run lean and hot, Have Auto Zone run a free code check on the car to search for a stored trouble codes this may help.

2000 lincoln ls heater not working...thermostat?

- If temp guage reads normal, the lack of heat may be due to the Heater Control Valve. Located in front of the radiator. Lower passenger side. A real bugger to replace.
- The plastic cap just over the thermostat is key in re-filling the anti freeze and bleeding air.
