Question about 2003 Dodge Caravan

2003 Dodge Caravan SE Question, Burning rubber/plastic smell when i turn on heat?

I have 2003 dodge caravan SE. Recently the heat seems to be luke warm at best and then the blower resistor went out, i knew this because only high worked on the heat. So i replaced the resistor less then week ago and it seemed to be perfect everything was working but yet heat was only Luke warm we took about 2 hour trip and it was freezing the whole way never even got remotely close to warm in van. We messed around with the temp knob from high to one of the middle settings. When we do this every time it smells like rubber/plastic is burning so we quick turn it back to high setting where we don't smell it at all. Now i guess i need to know is this a bad Heater Blower Motor with Fan Cage? Or is it something else? Before i order i really want to make sure that is what it is. If not what else could it be? Any help and reassurance would be great. Or other ways to diagnose the issue... I really cant think of what else would make that smell other then that motor burning up.

I brought it over to my dads house and we replaced blower and the now i don't smell burning plastic we also replaced thermostat which was locked up as soon as we pulled it out and tapped it once it snapped shut. Apparently it was locked open causing it not to heat up.

I have had this same exact issue. Heat in front would only work on high, after a while started squealing a bit, now it doesn't work in front at all. I still have heat in the back.

I haven't had a chance to fix it yet, but when I do (soon) I will post. In shop at the moment replacing a bent flywheel on the transmission.

SOURCE: blower stopped working on 2002 dodge caravan

Someone would need to check the blower motor and the resistor for voltage and ground.

I have a 1999 dodge caravan , there is a sound that seems to be comming from the glovebox i sounds like a printer running when i turn the heat on it smells like plastic burning what can this be

Hi there,

Does this noise occur at all times, or only when you operate the heater/air con?

If the latter, then as a guess, I would suspect perhaps a leaf (or other foreign particle) has entered your vehicle's air inlet (below your windscreen or front air intake) and made its way down to your heater BLOWER FAN.

Alternatively, there could be a short or burnt component, causing the smell.

Would require someone who knows how to get into the blower assembly, to check for possible culprit.
