Will a 89 c-6 transmission work in a 97 F250 4x4 pk with a E40D

My 97 F250 is slipping especially when in overdrive and reverse fluid change didnt help. I have a c-6 out of a 89 F150,both have 5.8 engines.I pull a big boat and plow with this truck would the c-6 work for me?

It will bolt up ,but will not work. the tail ends are different,and the 1997 transmission is run by the pcm ,and 1989 is not

just have someone look at it. like aamco or someone that does a free diagnostic. the tranny will probably have to be rebuilt.

well the low cost way to go first would be to try and change the trans fluids. If the problems still remains the it may be an internal problem

your transmission runs through part of the radiator. Check your fluid level and see if your hoses are conneced right.

sorry to say this trans has to be removed and rebuilt seems like od clutches burnt out-do you tow heavy trailer with truck as you have to tow with od off(push button on shifter)

My 97 nissan maxama stays in third gear when driving . it dosent down shift to first or second and wont go into overdrive.
I would check the transmission fluid level and appearance. If the fluid isn't especially dirty or otherwise off-color, I suspect a major transmission problem. The transmission fluid can be changed fr about $100 but I've never seen that help yet.

you dont need overdrive anyway waste of space i so go manual all the way easier and cheaper to fix ****** problems and if driven correctly can give you better gas milage

No reverse on a 89 535 E34, can anyone help
The clutch pack for reverse is worn out. The only solution is to replace or rebuild the transmission. The 4HP22transmission in these cars has common problems with worn out clutch packs, especially if the fluid is not changed regularly or the car is driven with frequent hard accelleration.

Auto transmission slips then grabs
first thing i would try is changing the transmission fluid out and filter, i beleive its almost 8 quarts. use a full quart of lucas transmission additive with the new fluid. if this doesn't help, the transmission will either need replaced or rebuilt
