The trick (or secret) is to stick a small screw drive down between the relay and the white lower part of the relay where the black tab is. With the screw drive push the tab towards the relay by prying on the top part. If you happen to have an empty relay spot, look at that and you will have a better idea.

How do u take the door panel off on a 1995 Honda civic

Instructions
    • Check the power window fuse. Remove the kick panel located under the steering column to expose the fuse panel. Use the illustration on the kick panel to locate the power window fuse, remove it and inspect the filament. Replace if the filament is broken.
    • 2Open the hood and use a wrench to loosen the negative battery terminal. Remove the negative battery terminal and set it aside.
    • 3.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the speaker cover and speaker on the appropriate door. It is not necessary to remove the speaker from its wires.
    • 4Unscrew the armrest with a Phillips head screwdriver. Remove the armrest.
    • 5Locate the door trim panel running along top of the interior of the door; where the door meets the bottom of the window. Use your Phillips head screwdriver to remove the retaining screws of the door trim panel. Grip the panel firmly and remove it by pulling upward.
    • 6Remove the door panel with your hands. The outer border of the door panel is connected with a series of plastic slips. Carefully unseat the clips to remove the door panel. Work the speaker through the speaker hole in the door panel.
    • 7Locate the window bracket. It is a combination of metal arms holding the window glass in place. The arms form an 'X' shape with the upper right arm attached to the power window motor.
    • 8Use your hand to disconnect the power window motor relay. Make sure there are no breaks in the wires and the fuses inside the relay are intact. If the relay is broken or does not connect properly with the power window motor it must be replaced.
    • 9Inspect the swing bolts on the window mounting bracket. There should be a visible amount of grease to lubricate the joints. If the swing bolt joints are dry they may be stuck. Use all-purpose automotive grease to lubricate the locked swing bolt joints.
    • 10Hold the glass in place and use the approapriate socket wrench to remove the regulator. The regulator is the metal arm holding the bottom of the window glass in place. It is attached to the bottom-most 'X' shaped arms. Remove the regulator.
    • 11Use a pencil to mark the location of the gear on the power window motor. Remove the power window motor mounting bolts and remove the motor from the door. Inspect the gear on the motor for grease and lubricate if necessary. If the motor does not work after greasing it must be replaced.
    • 12Replace door panel, door panel trim, armrest, speaker and speaker cover. Replace the negative battery terminal and lower the hood.

My 2008 nissan titan driver's rear window is broken. I removed the panel and can feel broken cables wrapped around the guid rod that the window holder slides on. While trying to raise the window...

These accessories are controlled through a centralized computer module referred to as the BCM (Bodye Control Module). You need to have the dealer do an active scan of the BCM to see what is going on with the in-op glass. It is not a fuse issue.

Rear power windows wont work

First check the fuses for power with ignition on and a test light...if you dont have a test light locate power window fuse section and remove fuse carefully...some are hard to remove so you will need a plastic fuse puller or use small needle nose plyers...CAREFULLY..also check owners manual for relay. If they are not burnt you will have to check power at switch on the door panel...keep ignition on or have an assistant so you will not kill the battery by just leaving it on and possibly forgetting...You will have to remove door panel armrest assembly..some will become loose at connection and cause problem make sure it is connected good...you will have to have a test light to check power at connection...If power is at the switch check power from switch to window motor connection... check here for loose connection also...If power is good here and all connections are tight and clean the window motor has failed..
This is normal to go bad...but not both at the same time....check for a relay when checking for fuse
If you find a relay mail me back and I will instruct you how to check it...you will need a multimeter But if you dont have a multimeter it is best to take the old one with you to a parts store and get one like it....It will save you time and they are cheap.
I will be standing by............................hope this helps..............................

4WD low and 4WD auto lights are flashing and the power windows don't work when this happens....also stuck in 4WD. What do I do?

Look under the dash to the right of the gas pedal, behind the stereo. There should be a black box, remove the cover to reveal several relays. There is one for power windows, it might be marked as accessories relay. It should be a square box type relay. Remove the relay and take it with you to the parts store to make sure they give you the right one. I believe the power windows and the 4wd actuator motor are on the same circuit.

1996 Mystique- suddenly the power window on the driver's side won't close or move, it makes a sound like it's trying to do something when I press the button but no movement.

it really sounds like you will need a new window regulator. for your vehicle there are a couple options, your local salvage yard or on line auto parts warehouse (I use autopartswarehouse.com) you can search and order this and any additional parts you will need for your car. you will need to remove the door panel, normally a few screws and pry off the panel with some type of flat blade screw driver or pry bar. remove the plastic lining very carefully (if it is still on the door), the window will need to be taken out of the door, normally secured to the base by two screws or bolts or retaining clips. the window tracks normally have an upper and lower bolt securing them to the door, remove these, lastly the window regulator has three or four bolts, remove those and remove the old regulator and replace and re assemble as you have taken apart, look for about three to four hours, Good luck!

I have problems w my power windows is a bmw 1993

If all windows stop workin at once it's a relay .. That can be found under your steering wheel after you remove the panel... This relay you gotta get it at a dealership if your local auto zone don't got it... Its called a comfort relay or a power window relay... Might be blue or gray.. Call the dealership tell them to transfer your call to parts then ask away on your realay... Remove it and give them the part number theres 1 or 2 numbers on it if im correct its the longer numbers you give to them... Make sure when they pull it up on there computer its the right 1... For power Windows .. And if you got a sunroof it'll be for that too. Depends on your model Bmw.. Well good luck and Hope this helps...

My 99 kia sportage power windows will not work.

Try the relay under the steering wheel, behind the panel that is held by two bults hidden under removable covers. Also two screws at bottom of panel. power goes to the fuse before the relay.

Pass.side power window won't work.

First be sure the window lock in the drivers side master switch is not LOCKED. This will prevent the windows from being rolled down by any other switch. (p106+)

Usually windows operate off a RELAY - not a fuse... and all the windows work off the same power relay.

Your Relay Part Number is 41-5021.
Here is the electrical schematic for your windows - showing the relay is common to all windows.

6713bdf.gif
CLICK HERE for a better pic.

If the relay is replaced - and/or tested good, You will need to remove the offending door's panel and verify the motor is getting 12VDC when you press the button for it to go down.

If there is 12VDC when you push the button, the motor is bad.

If there is NOT 12VDC when you push the button - the master switch or child lock bypass switch is faulty.

Click HERE for a PDF version of your owners manual

Under the ROADSIDE EMERGENCIES section (p.245) you will find a layout diagram of your fusebox.

P.248 instructs to pull DOWN on the fusepanel door to access... however your power window relay is located under the driver's side dash.

If the other windows work - there are 3 options to test/replace - in this order
1. Relay
2. Master Switch
3. Window motor.
