Question about 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser

2003 Malibu D/Window down. Wont go up. All looks in place.

I have taken the door panel off, looked inside. When using the button to roll up, no sound is heard. When using button to roll down (where it's stuck) sound is there and I can see the window move down. Would the motor be worn down so that it won't roll up? The window is used excessively because i throw newspapers 5X a week. Is this a Motor or a regulator?

Then part at Auto Zone was just under $100.00. This is my wifes car and she is the newspaper girl in our neighborhood. Temps overnight here are -30 and with the window unfixed all i heard was (deleted expletive) Well thanks to your information, all i hear is "my hero"

One word of caution though. the door panel on a Malibu has some really strange tabs that broke near the bottom. If others are to do this step, be cautious.

    thanks for your help!

Sounds more like the switch is the immediate problem , if you get down control from the switch then the motor is good . switches do get bad contacts and refuse to go one direction or the other , price out a switch from a parts house or a dealer . emergency fix might be to try to get some WD-40 down in the switch contact area , it can clean up a dirty contact and make it work again sometimes .

Maybe, but in my honest opinion your power window switch has an open on the up side. What this means is when you hit the switch in the up position,it's like your not pushing it.I would check all your wires that you can locate in the door for cuts or burns in the insulation. If none are found,I would replace the window switch first. Also it is cheaper to try that first than to buy the motor and still have the problem. And in this case it sounds like the switch. My name is Tommy and i hope i have been helpful.Have a good day.

Try banging on the bottom of the door with your fist while holding the button in the up position. If this doesn't work, the door may have to be taken apart and the motor/regulator assembly tested

Chevy Malibu 2005 window wont roll up or down.

Sounds like the window regulator broke (the mechanism that moves your window up and down). It has cable to do the lifting the window up and pulling the window down. These cables do break.

My windows on my passenger side wont work and the speakers on the same side dont work also. 1998 cheverlet malibo v6

Usually that would be two seperate problems. you may have a bad window motor and a bad speaker or maybe when you rolled down the window all wires were caught in the window linkage and ripped off of the motor and speakers. the only way to find out is to remove the door panel and look inside .If all wires are intact and still connected a new or used window motor and radio speaker will be in order .hope this was helpful.

Drivers side door wont open from inside, window problems

It is most likely a rod has fallen off inside the door. You may have to use a coat-hanger to read down inside and pull back on door latch to open it up.
Then after it is opened, remove screws on inner door panel, remove window/lock controls, take a big flat-head screwdriver and gently pry next to the plastic tabs holding on door panel. Remove door panel and put window back on track , and replace or reattach door handle rods.

the door inside panel is screwed on in 3 or 4 places. look on the underside of the panel for a screw or two, and look for a screw cover underneath where the inner door handle is. pop the window switch assembly out of the door gently and unplug the wiring harness from it. it is possible to repair the window winder assembly inside the door, but its too hard a process for me to explain. if u can get the door panel off, but cant figgure out how to repair the winder assembly, then buy a new window winder assembly for around $120, to replace and not repair is the standard practice anyway, cause the winders are a pain to repair, and the repair is usually only temporary, they are technically non repairable, the repair is more like a mcguyver move.
