I have a 1991 buick park ave. and the number 5 cylinder doesn't have any spark at the plug and at the coil pack. I put a new coil pack in and still have no spark, any suggestions.

    I fixed the problem. The answer was a bad ignition control module. I had it checked at auto zone and it failed one of the tests. The new one off the shelf passed, so I put it on and everything was cured. The coil pack on my car is all one piece but that passed a resistance test.

    so if you lifted the #5 spark plug wire off the #5 terminal of the dual coil pack , you see no spark while cranking ? odds are pretty high that you got a defective new coil pack , try swaping the coil pack to one of the other 2 known good coils, see if the problem follows the new coil , assuming you didn't bend one of the 2 connectors over that stick up when you remove the coil , try this and comment back .

No spark at coil pack changed coil still no spark on 2 and 5

Try switching your coil packs around see if you can get spark out of the 2 & 5 with a different coil pack in that location. If that doesn't work maybe your ICM they can test the ICM at autozone, but can't test the coil packs.

The numbers to the cylinders are on the coil packs. Standing on the passenger side of the car looking at the engine, the right side is 1, 3, 5 cylinders. On the left is 2, 4, 6 cylinders. Put the correct number cylinder plug wire on the correct number coil pack. The 1,3,5 cylinder plug wires will go on the right side of the coil pack, and the 2,4,6 will go on the left. They will not be in order on the coil pack, so double check the cylinder number.

Need the diagram to put spark plug wires on in correct order for 2001 park ave 3.8 litre

cylinders 2-4-6 are on the back side of the engine. 2 is on the passenger side, 4 is in the middle, and 6 is on the drivers side.

Cylinders 1-3-5 are on the front of the engine. 1 is on the passenger side, 3 is in the middle, and 5 is on the drivers side.

The coils should be labeled with there corresponding cylinder number. If it says 2 near the coil tower than the number two spark plug wire goes to that tower and the other end goes to the number 2 cylinder.

On the magnavox coil pack the opposite plug on the coil pack fires at the same time. If it is dead only on one side it may be the coil pack {six terminals on one brick looking unit.}
