Hi, my name is tommy. The easiest way to get the hood to open is have someone else stand outside the vehicle & push the hood down while you pull the release. It should release and when you get it open grease up the latch (wheel bearing grease works fine)and it should solve the problem.Hope i have been helpful.Have a good day.

Why won't the hood latch all the way?

Try using lubricant on the latch, if that isn't making a difference look closely at the latch mechanism for anything that looks obviously broken. if nothing looks broken try lifting the hood and then prop it up. pull the hood release again and try to close. let me know if you get it latched

Hood latch broken

You will need a needle nose pliers. Find the cable where it broke away from the plastic handle. Grip it and pull towards you. If you cannot easily get it to move you may use a stiff board and prop it in place in the area near the pliers and then work the pliers against the board in a prying, lever action motion while gripping hard so it doesn't slip.

How to open a hood

Small handle on drivers side near the doorway jamb (inside vehicle), usually has a picture of a car with the hood opening,. Pull that, then feel around in the slot created at the front hood by releasing the initial latch for the secondary safety handle. Move it to the side or up/down (model differ) to fully release hood. Raise hood, insert prop rod into hood if so equipped.

check that the cable is still attached to the latch lever... if not use pliers to pull the cable... sometimes the latch gets stuck... have someone push down on the hood while you pull the latch.

2002 Lexus LS430.Original battery is totally dead.how do you unlock hood latch with no power. Everything is shutdown.i want to replace battery.

If you're able to get into the car, pulling the hood latch lever the hood should open the hood...it doesn't use any power to open, it's all cable. If it still doesn't open...you might have a stuck latch lock. Have someone try to lift the hood while pulling the lever see if that works. If it doesn't work, your hood latch is stuck, but it doesn't require power to open. Hope this helps you open it.

How do I open the hood of a Mitsubishi L300 ?

  1. Locate the interior hood-release lever under the dashboard on the driver's side of the interior of the car.

  2. 2

Lift up and toward you on the hood release lever. The lever is connected to a cable that releases the hood. The hood will pop up about 1/2 inch when you pull the lever.

  3. 3

Move to the front of the car and locate the exterior hood-release lever under the front of the hood. It is located near the middle of the vehicle, just beyond where the front edge of the hood meets the body. Lift up on the inner lever.

  4. 4

Lift up on the edge of the hood while holding the inner lever in place. When the hood is up, find the hood prop and raise it, setting its tip in the hood-prop mount on the hood, to hold the hood up while you work in the engine bay.

How to open hood on dodge ram van after pulling hood latch?

stick your hand through the grille and feel for the release latch once found, press it upward while lifting the hood with your other hand and you should be able to open the hood. locate the prop bar and insert the free end of the bar into the hole underneath the hood it should be easy to find insert bar into the hole before releasing the hood otherwise you could smash your hand(s) by letting go without doing this

follow the radiator hose on the driver side of the engine compartment. It will not be an easy replacement, but i would suggest you replace the thermostat also. How many miles on the engine? Have you ever replaced the intake manifold gasket?
