You my friend have a short in the steering wheel. I have had the same problem, turn on the brights while the wheel is in lower position. Mine do and I drive at night with the brites on so at least I have headlights.. You will have too take it too an automotive electrician too get it fixed.

I need to find the fuse that controls the headlights on a 2004 jeep cherokee

i would look under the steering wheel, on some of these models, the fuse box is located under the steering wheel, behind a plastic cover, pull back on cover, and remove , also, check the distribution center box, located under the hood, on drivers side.

Headlights go on and off while driving on their own

I have the same problem....and found the shortage occurs when I adjust the steering wheel up and down. I'd had to drive with the steering wheel in the highest position in order to keep the headlights on. If I adjust it, my headlights (and only the headlights) go out.
Being unemployed, if someone has an inexpenisve solution, I'd sure appreciate it!

1997 jeep cherokee headlights quit working at the same time and will not come back on.

check the position of the automatic headlights switch. If it is placed in the auto position and the road becomes lit then the lights will go off automatically. Before condemning the switch try placing in it on the other positions. If the switch works fine, try checking the headlights relay, there are two relays (one is for the automatic headlights)

Auto and manuel switch for the headlights

just use them on manual, sounds like a whole lot of cash to fix.i took one of these for its inspection last week and not impressed ,as steering is a box and not rack and pinion and it was wandering ,so ancient to drive compared to a range rover and as for the hand brake ?? a handbrake should lock up the back wheels at 30mph or so i was taught 40 yrs ago,Well as for petrol consumption it needed a bigger tank to go more than 200 miles i think ,it just drank it the only one that likes this sort of thing are the oil producers. Not impressed at all with it ,big ,gross and thirsty but it was comfy

96 Jeep Cherokee headlights go on and off after being on a while.

It sounds like the relay switch is weak or going bad. It gets power and then stays closed giving 12V to the lights. Try replacing the relay.

96 jeep cherokee headlights

The headlights are on a relay and maybe its getting weak. I would have it checked and replaced because it could go out and stay out.
God Bless Greg
Oh yeah most of the time it is built into the head light switch.
