Question about 1997 GMC Jimmy
Fan clutch will not come apart after removing the 4 bolts
Thread on type. Loosen fan clutch counter clockwise for removal. Requires 36mm wrench (or adjustable crescent wrench).

Fan clutch screws on to the water pump. You can loosen it with a big adjustable wrench (it is about 1 1/2" or 1 9/16" hex). Leave the bolts for the pulley in so you could wedge a screwdriver under a bolt head to keep the pulley from turning. Give the wrench a hard **** to loosen and it should turn off by hand. Right hand threads so you will be turning it counter clockwise to remove.

its easier to remove with the belts on..but to late for that....you will need to heat up the part that screws onto the pump then take a big screwdriver or small crowbar and wedge it behind the pulley...... the fan will turn off to the right ...reverse threads.....hopes this helps

try hitting clutch fan nut three times with bar and hammer and use adjustable wench to turn other wise you will need two tools can borrow from dealer of a parts shop one to wold water pump pully other to turn clutch nut.
