SOURCE: radio locked on 2001 saturn sl2

Press & hold the 2 & 3 buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will appear, write this # down, press & hold the am/fm button for about 10 seconds: another code will appear, write this # down, then call 1-800-537-5140 and enter 202108 (this is a dealer code - you can use one of the others below, too) followed by the # key, then enter the numbers that you wrote down, followed by the * key.
The call will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code. Write this code down so you have it if you ever need it again. Enter this number into your radio following the instructions in your owners manual.

Note: If you get an override code that starts with 0, you drop the 0 when entering the code into your radio.

If you don't have an owners manual, then press & hold the hour button until the first 2 digits of your code come up, then press & hold the minute button until the last 2 digits show. Then press the am/fm button.
Repeat step #5 twice in a row it will disable the Theftlock and you will see "---". You will then be able to change to a new lock code.

IMPORTANT - Other dealer codes: 139010, 206053 and 620529 - these may be inactive by now; GM will remove them from time to time if they feel that they are "compromised".

Also - there are 2 modes to the TheftLock - "LOC" or "SEC" and "INOP". Once the anti-theft is activated, the radio display will show "LOC" or "SEC" - you then have 8 attempts to enter your code. If after 8 attempts you don't enter the correct code, the display will change to "INOP". It is only at this time that you will need to wait one hour, with the ignition ON; before you can retry. After that - you will have only 3 attempts before the radio enters "INOP" mode again.

SOURCE: Brake pedal all the way to the floor...Possible abs module?

Im going to assume that a mechanic has already checked for the most simple causes like making sure the brakes have been bled. If the abs module is faulty it will default to just a no abs state, but that wont cause the pedal to go all the way to the floor. I agree that replacing the caliper is probably gonna fix the problem, but I might try to bleed the brakes first and see if that solves it first...

I have a 1998 Monte Carlos. I had to slam on the brakes and.now the ABS light and brake lights are on. What could it be. They were fine before I had to slam on my brakes to avoid a car in front if me.

You have a brake fluid pump on board that over rides high pressure to keep the wheels from locking up by openning a bypass valve. If you can lock up the wheels by hitting the brakes hard the valve is stuck :( very costly. If they dont lock its electrical if they do you just wont have ABS. This is something that was passed on to me so i drove without ABS car stopped fine.

Can I bleed the rear brake on my Saturn SL2 myself or do I have to take it to a mechanic like the Haynes manual says?

you will need a helper to pump the pedal do it with the engine off have them pump the pedal hold it down and then open the bleeder do the several times til all the air is pushed out make sure not to let the reservoir go empty if it does you will need to bleed all 4 wheels

Abs light is on, the brake pedal goes down to the floor and vehicle will not stop

first, check to see if there is any fluid in the brake resoviori-it is located directly in front of the driver, under the hood by the firewall (up top)-if it is empty or very low, fill it. Look for leaks, especially around the insides of the wheels. You probably have a damaged line in either the calipers, wheel cylinders or a blown brake line.

Slam on brakes i feel a vibration in the pedal

This may be a silly response but are you sure it is not your ABS? This is the Anti-lock Braking System that prevents your tires from locking up when you slam on your brakes during an emergency. This helps prevent you from losing control of your vehicle. If any of your tires lock up your ABS will kick in and you will know this when your brake pedal starts to more or less vibrate. Sometimes when this happens your ABS light will come on your dash during the time your ABS is in use. This is a normal response and will happen more frequently when on icy, wet, or unpaved and muddy roads.

What causes the brake pedal to go almost to the floor and there seems to be no anti lock system

First test the master cylinder.with the engine off. Is the pedal firm. Is it holding pressure. If you say yes the master cyclinder is good. Now turn the vehicle on. does the pedal go to the floor.?.Now the ABS light doesnt have to be on to detect a problem ABS modules do fail. If it goes to the floor with the engine on and doesnt go to the floor with engine off. ABS motor module is no good. Why because the ABS motor pistons are not at it proper postion. Remember engine off we tested brakes without the ABS. Key on engine running we now test ABS. if it sink at this point the fix is a new abs module. Here the thing if you replace the module it will have to be flashed , the engine management will not communicate with it or recognize it

Abs light just came on. Is it an immediate safety problems?

No not at all. ABS issues will not leave you on the side of the road stranded, will not cause your engine any problems. When the ABS light comes on, it basically deactivates your anti lock brake system, giving you the same brakes we had back in the day before technology came into cars. You will not notice a loss in stopping power and your brakes will not be affected. Before the light, if you were to slam on your breaks, your tires would lock up for a split second then release, then lock, then release, keeping you from going into an uncontrollable slide. Now if you slam on the brakes, they will lock up and stay locked up until you ease your foot off the brake pedal....don't slam on the brakes. :-) Not saying you shouldn't get it fixed because it is a good safety feature to have for those who do panic and stand on the brakes. But you don't have to make it a top priority fix if budget doesn't allow for it.

Why is the Abs light is on when it is nothing is wrong with the brakes?

the abs light is on because the automatic braking system has a problem yes it is still safe to drive but if you go into a wet condition and slam on the brakes you might go into a spin without the abs to keep you straight.usually its a wheel bearing sensor that's bad but can also be the control module best to go over to a auto zone or advance auto parts to get it checked for free.hope this helps you please vote if so.

ABS light and Traction control light stay on. Vehicle brakes ok, but pedal feels "grindy" intermittently when braking

That "grindy" feeling is when the ABS kicks in. It's only suppose to activate when you slam on the brakes and the wheels would normally lock. Instead, ABS will very quickly pump the brakes on and off, to prevent the wheels from locking (making a giant skid mark) and stopping the car more effectively. Generally this only happens if you slam on the brakes or loose traction due to rain or snow while braking. If this is happening often and the brake light is on, on the dash, then you need to get this checked out by a qualified mechanic ASAP.
